Monday morning, they sent over a technician while my wife and baby were at home. When he arrived, he completely ignored the error message, and told my wife that the whole system was old, and the best course would be to replace the whole thing. What we originally thought would be a simple, one-hour job turned into him spending about four hours replacing the entire opener system, and installing new springs. My wife reached out to me by phone while he was working, and told me what was going on, and while it seemed like a big jump in the size of the job, we knew that other systems in the house were similarly old, so it seemed plausible that a replacement was necessary.
When it came time for payment, the system still wasn't working reliably; i.e. the door openers were extremely finicky, and the door only opened some of the time. My wife asked for a discount, since it had been four hours and the opener wasn't working properly. He responded with "why do you think you are entitled to a discount?" and his tone and body language quickly changed. He became belligerent and mean. He escalated the situation, and made my wife extremely uncomfortable - she paid him $3000 by Venmo (WAY more than a new opener and installation should cost) just to get him off our property.
We tried it out during the week - it only worked sporadically for me, and not at all for my wife.
We were promised a 20-year warranty and an itemized invoice of goods/services rendered. None ever came.
We tried repeatedly to call the company and complain, and got the same message every time: "We'll deliver your message to upper management, and they'll get back to you." No one has.
The tech who installed the system eventually called us back, and told told us he would send someone out to fix the problem, either himself or a colleague today (Friday), and if we weren't completely satisfied, he'd partially refund us and come uninstall the system he put in. As of now, none of it happened.
