I took my van into the dealership for a recall on this little decal on the steering wheel. Apparently when the airbag deploys, the decal does additional damage to you. I dropped it off, and the mechanic (Larry Cook) said it'd be about an hour. I went home. The dealership calls me to tell me it's done, but asks if I was aware of a "hefty" coolant leak from the radiator. I informed them that I certainly was NOT aware of this and also that I haven't noticed any driveway puddles from parking the van. This was a complete surprise. I had just driven that van an hour away and back with absolutely no issue. He let me know they can special order the part and it will be $737 installed and out the door. I just asked when they closed so I could get the van before then.

I told my wife, and she was confused and upset. She had questions I didn't know the answer to, so I had her call the dealership. The same mechanic, Larry, describes the leak as severe. My wife asked if she should bring coolant to pick it up in order to make it home. Larry states that it would leak out, "as fast as you could fill it".

We decide to take our chances.

We arrived to pick up then van, and Larry shows us that on the floor are these 2 small squirts of red coolant. Didn't really strike me as a major leak, but alright. We drive the van in question home. Not an issue. I put a clean surface underneath it and pop the hood. I don't see any leaks, but I can smell burning coolant. We leave the clean surface under the van for a couple hours, but it's pretty clear that there was no leak. This was fraud.

I made an appointment with another mechanic to give it a look anyhow to be safe. They were as confused as I was because there was no leaks whatsoever. They, in fact, stated it ran "beautifully".
