Scammer's email Used three, including one saying it was "Paypal" but actually a gmail address
Country United States
Victim Location IL 62074, USA
Type of a scam Online Purchase
I replied that I would ship it only after payment.
He/she suggested Paypal and asked for my name and PayPal ID.
I ensured my Paypal account was at zero and de-activated my bank card from the account, and then provided the buyer with the info.
I then received an email purporting to be from PayPal that money had been received. The corresponding amount is not in my PayPal account. The email contained extraneous information that PayPal does not have ways to verify (a transaction number) and multiple spelling errors. Also, and here is a big clue, the email's address was "[email protected] ".
I responded to that purported paypal email that "I will not send the ring until money is showing in the account. It is not showing now."
The response -- again, this is supposed to be from PayPal -- was "the money is on pensing and it will be cardited sooner you have the tracking number."
No, I am not sending the ring.
The first emails asking about the ring were from blessing Garza
The so-called Paypal email references Mary Kite ([email protected]) as having paid $900.
The address I'm supposed to send the ring to is Pam Garza
5351 s Newcastle Ave
Chicago, IL . 60638
A couple hours later, I was contacted by another email address asking if the ring was still available. (I've had the ad up since late July, so two interested parties in the span of hours...)
This person wanted my address so she could "contact my Bank to prepare the payment in a certified Bank check and have it overnight to you, I will arrange for the pick up after the check clears your account, I will need your name and address where the check needs to be issue
to.. "
(No, I'm not falling for it.)
