It was brought to our attention by numerous Public Agencies, Familial Systems and community members as well as stakeholders, that this patient is being intentionally mistreated due to vengeful attitudes of certain practitioners on the team treating this patient. It was brought to our attention that practitioners in authority of the care of this patient (Director of Psychology) put together a letter full of lies addressed to the judge in order to suspend the Conservatorship of his daughter to further disempower the patient and isolate him from the support and advocacy of his family, which is in contradiction with the positive benefits of increasing a patient's overall functioning and goes against the Hospital’s mission and the mission of funders.

With thorough research of our investigative team, we have since retrieved that letter and have also learned that staff members at Gateway Hospital and DMH HOME team have been engaging in unethical behaviors towards this patient and covering up these practices by coercing the patient to say that he is happy there, writing false letters to court superiors to silence the suffering of the patient, with intentions of disconnecting him from the support of his family. As a result, subjecting the patient into a state of chagrin, in order to intentionally exacerbate the patient's psychiatric symptoms warranting them the right to dispense more psychiatric medication without informed consent of anyone but the Psychiatrist, who does not have his best interest at heart.

Moreover, we have found that the treatment teams within Gateway Hospital have a strong connection with practitioners with the LA County DMH HOME TEAM and other staff members within the DMH system and Court Municipalities and because of this connection they are able to use their alliance to practice micro-aggressive acts as a way to bully, frustrate and silence the patient. Additionally, Gateway does not have any transparent grievance and complaint process accessible to their patients, staff or any stakeholders involved in the care of their patients, nor do they have a nondiscrimination notice. There are no displayed rules, policies and ways to contact any entity within the facility to file a complaint, nor is it accessible on their website or any whistleblowing contact displays anywhere in the facility. And as a result, staff can enforce their rules based on how a staff member feels as opposed to what is ethical or in compliance with the Federal and State Laws.This careless act is very dangerous for patients, as their rights are completely violated. This can lead to life long impairments and/or death.
