My web cam on my laptop was not working. I called Asurion because they are my warranty company. They asked where I got my laptop from and I said AMAZON. Asurion transferred me to a different department which was amazon support. So I thought. The calls kept getting dropped. I kept calling them back and they kept giving me different numbers (one of which was a medical alert number). At this point I called the number on the back of my laptop directly to gateway. While on hold it said to go to gateway support.com. When I put in gatewaysupport.com alerts went off on my computer saying that my IP address had been hacked and I needed call Microsoft at the number below. 855.390.1058. This guy told me someone had hacked into my computer and he had me download something and claimed he was showing all the things the hackers had accessed in my name. He then asked what the name of my bank was and I told him. He said, Okay I am going to transfer you to your bank right now. Then this new man, that I thought was my bank had all of my bank information and my personal information. The fake Microsoft man gave the fake bank man all my information which made him seem legitimate. This bank man then told me someone oversees had made a purchase for 1500.00 in child porn. I was so upset and panicked. I said, why can't you just cancel it. He said no because it says that I authorized it. I told him I didn't and he needed to cancel it. Then he told me I did authorize it and this could become a federal investigation because it is child porn. I panicked more at this point. He then said there were certain gift cards that were marked that I could purchase for 1500.00 so I could make a duplicate purchase and then my bank would call and ask me if there should be a duplicate purchase. He said the bank would call me and ask if I wanted to make a duplicate purchase. I was suppose to say no and then the bank would cancel both of the transactions. I only purchased one card for 500.00 and he had me take a picture of it and send it to a different number. 724.740.9873. Afterward he said that was the federal reserves. I realized this was a scam and he texted me and called me a couple of times but I didn't respond. He said, Maam your call got disconnected, please answer the call because that call is getting monitored by the federal reserve. I didn't respond to him anymore. I checked the gift card immediately and the money was gone. Then I went to my bank and changed all of my accounts.
