I was initially contacted by someone saying they are from "Adecco Recruitment Group Canada" through WhatsApp saying they are hiring for part-time and full-time jobs. They claimed they got my number from the "Canadian Recruitment Agency database", and when I expressed interest in learning more they said that their "person in charge" would contact me with more details. A few days later, a separate person contacted me through WhatsApp saying they received a message from Adecco saying I was interested in a "side hustle". They told me to go to gatorworksapp.com and use a referral code to register an account. After I did so, they gave me login information for a "training account" to learn how to do the job.

This is the part where I figured out what the scam actually is. The "job" was having random products that you could find for sale online show up, and then clicking a button to essentially fake purchase the product. The way the person described it was "buying a product, but not really buying it" and that "the merchant returns the amount to you immediately after you purchase something" and that they give you commissions for doing this. So basically what they are doing is paying people to farm fake purchases to artificially make it look like a product is popular.
