In February 2020, my elderly grandfather, in his mid-80's, agreed to a "free trial" of two Gedeon products marketed to improve brain health. The marketing stated that they could try the product for free; they only needed to pay a nominal shipping fee of about $5.00 for each order. There was no warning about any other charges, and no agreement to sign up for any plan or subscription.
Today, February 14, 2020, my grandmother received a call from a woman named Lola who demanded her credit card information. Gedeon, Lola explained, had already attempted to charge my grandparents' credit card $89.92 and $94.95 for the two "free" shipments. Because my grandparents had switched to a new credit card and closed the prior credit card account, their attempt to fraudulently charge $184.87 failed.
Lola was cordial at first, but she threatened my grandmother when she did not immediately agree to provide her credit card information. Lola told her: "I'm going to ruin your reputation internationally." When my grandmother told her she already paid the shipping, as agreed, Lola responded, "I don't care." Unless my grandmother agreed to give her credit card number immediately, Lola vowed to collect the charges through a debt collection agency.
I attempted to reach out to the company to see if they had any response, but they did not answer any listed number.
My grandmother was shaken and distraught by this intrusive, illegal demand. She is not the first person this company has targeted. The same phone number and address associated with "Gedeon" is also attached to the "Forever Skin Care Company" and "Flowing Fitness." Both businesses have been found by the ScamPulse.com to have "a pattern of complaints concerning unauthorized and/or unexpected charges and unresolved refund disputes. Complaints filed by consumers state that they signed up for what they thought was a free trial and later discovered additional unauthorized and/or unexpected charges to their credit cards for additional amounts. ScamPulse.com contacted the business in April 2020 about the pattern of complaints, but have not received a response at this time."
