I was on my computer and suddenly a loud alarm went off and there was a big red warning sign on my screen. I tried everything and couldn't get rid of it. I finally called the number on the warning and spoke to someone who said he was a Microsoft technician. I'm not an [censored] about these things (usually) and asked a lot of questions. But he was very good at making it sound like he was actually from Microsoft. The bottom line was that he said I could purchase protection against harmful viruses and malware and it would only cost $164. Stupidly I gave him my bank information, paid the $164, and the alarm magically disappeared from my screen.
A year later I got a phone call from these people saying I owed then $7000 and they were going to take it out of my bank account. Of course, I immediately changed all of my accounts so they never got a penny. But I keep getting calls from them from different phone numbers telling me I owe them money and they're going to take it from my account. Sometimes the caller is a male and sometimes a female. They all have Indian accents. The phone # I've reported for them is the last one they called me from.
I don't believe they can ever get into my account. My bank has an extremely effective anti-fraud unit. But these people are very slick and are probably conning a lot of people out of a lot of money.
deducting $8000.00 from my checking account to renew the service maintenance on my computuer. They must think I have an IBM mainframe! I called the number back from another phone and used an [censored] accent ( I felt like playing)and said I didn't have maintenance service. The man said yes you have had an agreement since 2018. I said no no I don't have. He said I can see you do have ( remember I used a different phone than the one he called). I said I no have computer...I only have tablet. He said ok ma'am we'll cancel your service. Too Funny...but they must get some takers or they wouldn't be making calls.
Be careful
