I was not informed I was not speaking with a Quickbooks/Intuit representative or affiliate. I proceeded to allow remote access to the PC. From the the phone representative ran several programs and command line orders, then highlighted areas with Crt+F. He stated the file was 63% corrupt and would need to go to level 3 support, which was not covered by the company's plan and then gave me a quote. When I told him we were supposed to have support, he said it had expired. He DID NOT say, "this is support through our company, Geek Assured and not technical support through Intuit directly." Luckily, I have him absolutely no billing information whatsoever.
Upon ending the call and remote support I found that all of the Quickbook files had been purged. I suspect he did this at the time he ran the command line and "diagnostic" programs, then used Crtl+F to divert my attention, like with a magic trick's slight of hand. An IT personnel had to recover the deleted files, thankfully the Geek Assured rep did not know how to permanently delete a file and they could all be recovered.
In short, this company misrepresented themselves, then altered data without authorization and did so in an attempt to cause me to purchase their services. If you will take a moment to review their Facebook profile as well as a Google search, you will see I am not the first person to fall for the shady worded Google Ad, or their underhanded tactics. When "Sunny" called back to our office, he even had the receptionist account the caller as "Quickbooks". I still have the text document with phone number, extension, and pricing quote left by "Sunny."
