I had a hardware problem (not known at the start of "services") which prohibited my laptop from accessing the internet. I thought I was contacting Best Buy's Geek Squad for services. The firm I actually contacted called me, based on a problem description that I furnished on their website. After describing the problem to them, they asked access my computer to review the situation. They "spent" several hours and it was unclear what they were doing/accomplishing. As time went on, I got nervous/suspicious about their activity. Finally the technician support contact, Justin McKenna called me and explained that they found a malicious virus on my computer a CSRSS.exe trojan file. He explained that they had to remove this trojan and clean my computer of all viruses. Then they were going to install Webroot security software. At this point, I thought I had to let them proceed (they had been "working" on my problem for several hours. At the end of all this, they said that I owed them $ 499.99 for a 3 year services contact. I felt that I had to pay them in order to get back my computer access.

They never fixed the real problem I had with the laptop. The laptop had a hardware problem, not security software issues. After this transaction, I took my laptop to a local service shop and they fixed the hardware problem.

The manner in which this company took control of my computer, spent many hours doing something which did not fix the problem, and then charge me an excessive amount of $ 499.99 indicates to me unlawful processes, and a scam situation.
