first, I received multiple phone calls from various numbers from various states telling me that there was an issue with my computer and I need to log onto it right away as I was on the phone. After a few phone calls I no longer answered. Then I received an email from them stating that they renewed my subscription for virus protection and that they charged my credit card $299 but there was no date of the transaction and it did not list the credit card used . In the email, it stated that I could call the number listed to cancel my subscription and request a refund. I tried calling the number several times but it went to a voicemail that was just a basic recording with no mention of the company. Someone always called back within a few minutes but the number always appear to be from various states. They have a website which looks reputable but when you called the number listed, it says the number is no longer in service. The last time I called, I did not leave a message but they called right back. I explained the situation and asked the representative which credit card he charged but regardless of what I asked, he would not provide any information. He told me that the only way to cancel my subscription would be to log on my computer and allow him to walk me through how to cancel it . After asking several questions thst he was unable to answer, I told him that this was fraudulent and that I was going to report him and hung up the phone. Nothing was charged to any of my credit cards, however it is my assumption that he was going to somehow remotely access my computer and walk me through the steps that would allow him to gain information.
