Emailed me regarding a charge of $400.00 that would appear on my bank if I didn't call. So I called and talked to a foreign accent man. He had me go to a website called getmydeskand install it. He had control of my computer. He said it was so he could access the refund form for me. I filled out the refund form. He then asked me to access my bank account from my computer to see if it was refunded in my account. I hung up the phone and called my bank and told them what happened. No money has been taken. I'll check again tomorrow , they keep texting me to answer my phone. I will not. I'm scared they still have access to my computer.

Received a call stating that my account had be debited $399.00 for renewal of softwear that was on my computer. I don't remember using or adding this software, but foolishly I asked to have that deleted. For some stupid reason I fell for the idea that they would need access to my computer to delete this. Then they were going to credit my account for $400 but they had not taken any money out. So, why would they credit it back. Well here's the really stupid part - they transfered $400 into my account but they made a "mistake" and it was $4000. Being an honest person (fool) I told them and then the problems really started. Since they could not just cancel the transfer - I was told I would need to buy $3500 in Game Stop Credit cards !!! Foolishly I gave them the codes on the back - so I am out $3500 plus they have potentially all my computer information. Bank info etc.

I did not call the number or respond to the email. I’m simply reporting what I received. When I lived in Seattle, I had the Geek Squad at Best Buy do some work for me, so when I received the email I wondered how the Geek Squad services would have mistaken that I owed them money. Here is the email I received from the Geek Squad today: THIS IS A REMINDER EMAIL TO INFORM YOU ABOUT THE ANNUAL MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH GEEK SQUAD FOR NORTON SECURITY. YOUR ANNUAL CONTRACT IS SET TO RENEW TODAY.YOUR BANK ACCOUNT WILL BE DEBITED WITH USD 499.99 AS YOU HAVE OPTED FOR AUTO-RENEW SERVICE.
