I have no idea who these scammers are. Should be fined and jailed for this [censored].

Type of a scam: Tech Support

My father received a phone call claiming to be a tech support company to which the man claimed he had paid $400 for support previously, and wanted to give my father a refund. He asked me to go on the computer to "uninstall" software he claimed he had previously installed. I checked and my father had never paid $400 to this company and I hung up before taking any steps the man on the phone asked me to do, as I could tell it was a scam. My father has fallen victim to similar scams in the past and is therefore likely on a list used by these scammers (despite asking them to remove him from their list).
