RECEIVED A CALL FROM ANDY FERNANDEZ WHO WENT THROUGH THE WHOLE MESSAGE STATING RUSSIA HAD HACKED MY COMPUTER. HE WAS TO GO AND CLEAR ALL OF THE THINGS THAT WERE WRONG AND THEN OFFERED ME A 5 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN FOR 5995.00 OR A LIFETIME PLAN FOR 6,000.00. INITIALLY WANTED ME TO SCAN THE CHECK, BUT I DO NOT HAVE A SCANNER. THEN TOLD TO UPS THE CHECK BY TWO DAY DELIVERY. I INITIALLY SENT THE CHECK, BUT AFTER CHECKING YOUR WEBSITE I SAW IT WAS A SCAM. Reporting Suspected Fraudulent Activity
I received an email supporting Ly from Walmart indicating that an iPhone 13 Pro would be delivered to me. I had not ordered such item and called the telephone number provided in the email. Agent answered and stated that my IP address had been compromised and that items totaling more than four thousand dollars had been purchased using my name. Of course he indicated that he could correct the situation for a fee and offered three options. I chose 3-years for $250.00 and wrote the check (No. 1601) and was instructed to place on my print and it was scanned. I was to mail the check as soon as possible, however, something warned me to first check out the company GEEKOL and Google did not have a good report for this company. On tomorrow I will notify my financial institution to not pay the check, delete the five programs that GEEKOL installed on my computer and initiate all other action recommended.

FRAUDULENT SCAM
I received an email stating I owe $750.00 for a laptop I never ordered. In the email was a customer service number to call in Texas which I called. I spoke with 2 technicians who took the charge off and proceeded to tell me my personal identity had been compromised and that they could help me by offering me the security coverage I should have through their company called Geekol. I wrote a check for $450.00 for 5 year coverage. They said to call them back as soon as I dropped it in the mail and that they were already being the process of setting up my personal protection. I have decided to NOT send the check which I will void. So glad I checked out the other comments from dissatisfied.

Victim Location60102 Type of a scamIdentity Theft
1/20/22 after having trouble signing into Amazon Prime I called the support number for Amazon that was displayed on my TV. I was told (by a person who Identified himself as Gabriel Harris employee ID/phone 669-888-8143, extension: 1004, session number: AMZN 4268) that my Amazon PW was being used by several people across the US, including Florida and Texas. I talked with Gabriel Harris for five hours. He said they will investigate these people. He signed me up with Bitcoin, Uphold, AnyDesk and other companies. He enrolled us in AnyDesk, which I believe gave him complete control of our phones, checking accounts and this computer. We later learned from our bank that this was fraud that originates from Malta via a re-directed Amazon support number, and said my identity was stolen.
I reported this incident to the FTC and Illinois AG (OAG2022-*********) on 01/22/2022, 10:30am. I was unable to report this to Bitcoin. I filed another FTC report (*********) on 01/23/2022, pasting part of these notes into the report. I am updating this document daily.
On 01/22/22 I received an email from PayPal that stated the person ([email protected]) just ordered a printer using my account. Transaction ID *************, $485, Canon Printer MQ85896, delivery date 01/25/2022, I called to stop the transaction (800-276-1465). I had changed my PayPal password this morning. When support learned (from the number appearing on the spoofed email 800-276-1465) they connected me with an agent from their security named John Smith (case ID PFC11211014) after talking with him, he recommended speaking with a level 9 technician (Ryan Price). After talking with the tech (Ryan Price) I was told that the hackers installed a keystroke logger on my computer and the only way out was to totally encrypt my entire network. He did this through a company named GEEKOL at the cost of $2,912. Payment was to be made mailing a paper check as the hackers would see what was happening if I paid online. The check was to be mailed to this address: GEEKOL, 5999 Custer Rd., Suite 110-31, Frisco, TX 75035. I learned that this same email has been sent to many people.
My computer was scanned at a deep level and supposedly malware was removed, and the system was supposedly encrypted with NSA encryption software. The process took about three hours. I was told not to make any online purchases for two days so they could monitor activity.
I told Ryan Price and his supervisor Peter Robinson (both had heavy Indian accents), that I suspected that GEEKOL was involved in my identity theft and wasn't going to pay them the requested $2912.00 until the FTC completes its investigation. Peter Robinson offered to cut the price to $1,499.99. GEEKOL does not appear in any search engines.
I am waiting for Ryan Price to respond to a text I sent requesting his company's website.
I learned that there was an ATM withdrawal in San Francisco, CA for #1,000.00 on 01/21/22 (posted on 01/24/2022, I am disputing this.
I don't know for sure if this company is involved with my identity theft, but I suspect they are. This investigation continues. I chatted with Samsung support and told them that this occurred because of a phone number displayed on our smart Samsung TV. I had to ask them to forward this information to their security section. I don't know if they did.

Thank you for this detail, German. My elderly parents were a victim to these folks too and didnt really remember too much about what these individuals exactly did so your write up was very helpful. I have taken the necessary steps to update accounts, change passwords and stop payment on the check mailed but I was wondering if you have had any trouble since? I am concerned of what they did during the 3+ hours they had remote access into their computer. It does look like they changed the password to the router but that is all i have found so far. Of course my parents PC is offline until I can have it professionally wiped. Any additional details you can share would be appreciated. Thank you!
