Type of a scam Employment
They provided me the formal contract and the online extranet website. (https://genfive-staff.com/login).They told me to work at home and communicate with them through extranet website and phone, for the first month. They said after the first month's training period, I could work in an office in my neighbourhood and I totally believed them.
I signed the contract with them. The job description includes "Controlling asset transfers, making sure that our customers' assets reach dedicated accounts." and " Confirming successful transfers and registering results in corporate extranet system". I didn't even think about the potential risk!
On June 1st. they transferred $9000 to my account. On June 2nd, my "supervisor" asked me to withdraw it, and transfer the money abroad through Moneygram and Western Union separately. On the instruction, they even wrote down how you should reply to the agent if the transaction couldn't get through. like this:
• Who am I sending the funds to? You are sending these funds to your colleague as a gift.
• Do I know the receiver in person? Yes, you do know the receiver in person, since you're working in the same company.
• Do you know the receiver address and phone number ? Yes, you do know this information, as it's available in the task description.
• Why am I sending the funds? You're sending the funds as a gift (for any reason you may like)"
As on the contract, one of my responsibility is to help transfer the money, so I didn't get suspicious. So I did what they said.
However on Jun 20th, I found my bank account was frozen. The bank told me that, they are doing a fraud investigation to my account. They said the owner of this $9000 said it was not him himself who transferred this money to my account.(excuse me?? ) They told me to wait until the investigation ends. And since then, I lost contact with my supervisor. He didn't reply me on extranet system, or return my call.
One of the reasons that I didn't get suspicious about this company is that it makes you feel like you are actually working. Because I was assigned with other tasks such as"real estate searching". They said Genfive Ventures is about to rent a new office around Brooklyn and asked me to talk to the real estate agent about the details of the renting. However, in fact, other tasks responsibility are just disguise, which made you believe they are not scam company.
I don't know how the victim is right now, cause my bank account is still frozen. I think both me and the owner of $9000 are victims.
