The theives called me saying its georgia power.. Saying my service is about to be disconnected in 45 mins and tht i can go to branch and pay in person or use money pak/ green dot card. I was like i just paid how is my service being disconnected he was like it did not go through and i was like well i will pay online he was like its not going to post in time and i thought once it get disconnected i hve to wait till nxt week and pay connection fees and my kids do school at home so i went and paid... They called me back saying diff stuff so i call ga power myself and they were like we will never call u.. I sent fraud report/ claim to moneypak/ green dot the same day will all the info and pics and they can not trace were/ who took/ accepted funds..

Shouldnt the company hve a record of who set up accounts with them to receive paymts/ $.. Who/ company/ account accepts my money?? Every card has its own unique #.

The headquarters is in ca and the #'s tht called me all were from ca..

I contacted greendot aka moneypak and they fineprint said they will try to recover funds.. I asked how.. Im out of $$$$ tht is for bills and this company cant trace where the funds went/ account / company/ person to put in the #..

10-7-2020 at 3pm received a call from "Georgia Power" Billings Manager, David Foster at 1-800-706-4204x2, also a cell number 678-946-8900, alerting us that at 4pm Georgia Power would be out to cut off our power due to non receipt of payment for past 2 months. (Even though we are on automatic draft and the payments had cleared the bank.) They said that Georgia Power had not received the payments. They wanted us to take $1500 in cash and go down to the Kings Food Mart at 2765 Houston Avenue and use the Corporate Utility Payment Machine to pay the bill so that we would not have our power turned off. They said this method was necessary due to COVID and that the payment offices were closed.

We called our local business contact at Georgia Power and they confirmed that this was a scam and that Georgia Power would NEVER ask for payment in this fashion. She was familiar with this scam and was reporting the number and the incident through Georgia Power.

Received a phone call from 1-800-619-3250 pretending to be Georgia Power threatening to cut off power today if the outstanding balance of $859 was not paid immediately. When I told them that I just logged in to my Georgia Power account, I verified that I had a $0.00 balance and that no payment was due, they claimed that the information I was viewing was incorrect and that I needed to call 1-800-619-3250 and ask for John Silva immediately or that I would risk having my power shut off.

After calling 1-800-619-3250 and getting in touch with "John Silva", he asked for account information, social security number, home address, all of which I refused to provide. I asked him what my outstanding balance was and he was unable to provide the correct ($0.00 amount). I then told him that when Googling 1-800-619-3250, scam alerts popped up, and told him that I would be reporting him to the Better Business Bureau. He immediately hung up the phone on me.
