GeoTeam / imposter Reports & Reviews (9)

As stated with others, I received a text for a position that I did apply to, but it was under a different company. It felt sketchy but I accepted anyway. They said they would send a macbook and printer over, and that felt even more off. I found this page and ended up blocking them.

Received a text from "May Theodore" about an application for a "Proofreader/Copy Editor" that I remembered applying for as it was listed on LinkedIn as a role with the Carolina Panthers. I believed it may have been a recruiter I was going through because the number this "May Theodore" texted from was 950, which is based in Southern California. Did this whole text interview via Zoom with a "Renaut Sedweave" and visited the link https://www.geoteam.biz/ Company and company website seemed sketchy, and obviously wasn't the Carolina Panthers. Luckily, I came across this page before giving out any pertinent information such as address or banking information. I reset my Zoom password and blocked their sites and numbers to be safe, but definitely don't take the bait from these people. Moral of the story: If it's too good to be true, it's definitely not real!

I'm glad I came here and searched. A similar MO with the number +1 (951) 419-4615 messaged me under the name "May Theodore". They messaged for this GeoTeam and asked me to download Zoom (already have it). When I messaged back requesting a confirmation of my application (they first stated I had submitted an application and then stated in another message that my resume had been provided to them), they asked "Did you download Zoom already?"

I replied with a fake automated message saying they had been reported for fraudulent activity.

The number is not listed with an iPhone otherwise I would have had blue messages. Definitely an android used or something else trying to scam individuals looking for employment.

I got a text that thanked me for applying to GeoTeam. "Alvin Weigh" wrote that they had received my resume and that I should reply to confirm my interest. I'd gotten another fishy text similar to this a few days before, so I asked for a link to the job description and said I'd been getting phishing texts so I wanted to be careful. There was no direct answer to my request. The answer I got just said the interview would be through Zoom and that I should download Zoom and provide my email to the HR manager. It said that further enquiries could be made during the interview. I decided to search for "GeoTeam" and "Alvin Weigh" and found this scam website.

Wow. Reading the experiences above. I almost choked. I have a legit job offer on the table, but then I got the same texts as being described above. I fell for it and almost told the other job No. I have a contract in my hand from "geoteam" with unbelievable pay and benefits...thank God I started digging further and found this before I blew it. That was close, thank you for these reviews!

Same as others got a text saying “Hello,

Thank you for applying to GeoTeam.

I'm Alvin Weigh, we received your application with respect to the vacant position of Virtual Assistant and your resume has been reviewed. For more information on how to proceed, kindly reply with {YES I AM} if interested, to this number. SMS and data rates may apply. To unsubscribe, reply STOP.” i asked for their company website he directed me to geoteam.biz but i DID NOT click on the link for fear of info getting hacked. I kept searching Google and linked in and got more dead end results that put my red flags up. Then i see this website where others felt the same… not a legit job. Dont know how they even got my number.
Thankfully i looked them up first

I also received texted "Alvin Weigh". He addressed me by my first and last name and said he had received my application for a job title that I have applied for actually at various companies. He said his company was called GeoTeam. I went online to research the company but couldn't find anything. I told him that I was interested in interviewing. He told me to download Zoom and send him my email so that he could forward it to the hiring manager. The email address he sent me for the hiring manager was [email protected]. He kept texting me to tell me to log into my Zoom and accept the invite. He told me that the interview would be held "strictly by instant messaging" on Zoom to discuss the job, and I should check my Zoom to proceed. At this point, my red flags went up. and this is when I found the scam alert. I texted them to let them know that I would not be proceeding with them, and blocked the number.

The scammer texted me and called himself "Alvin Weigh". He addressed me by my first and last name and said he had received my application for a job title that I actually have been applying for at various companies. He said his company was called GeoTeam. I reviewed my records to see if I had applied for a job at that company. I had not, but I thought that maybe I had lost the documents for that application since I had been applying to so many listings. I told him that I was interested in interviewing. He told me to download Zoom and send him my email so that he could forward it to the hiring manager. He even double-texted me to get my email after I hadn't responded for a few hours. I sent him my email. He told me that the interview would be held "strictly by instant messaging" on Zoom to discuss the job, and I should check my Zoom to proceed. At this point, my red flags went up. I searched the phone number and found it listed on this website with a similar scam. At that point, I texted them to let them know that I would not be proceeding with them, and they have not contacted me since.
