Translation: Conversion of written documents into the target language.
Translator/Proofreader responsibilities include reading and thoroughly understanding the context of given material, using specialized dictionaries and translation tools and proofreading finished pieces of work. To be successful in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in at least two languages in addition to your native language
Responsibilities:
- Read given material and research industry-specific terminology
- Convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others
- Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
- Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations
- Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation

- Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
- Fluency in at least two languages in addition to your native language

This sounded like a legitimate job offer for a freelancer. I investigated online but found nothing in the Bayer Pharmaceuticals web page regarding the name of this person. I contacted them to set up a job interview and the interview was done via chat. During the interview, I was surprised that this hiring manager said he would send me a check to purchase a Mac laptop. This rang alarm bells. Another surprise was that the check arrived early the following day to my address. The check did not come from the location the hiring manager said he was from and neither from Bayer pharmaceuticals. It came from Ecommerce Dept, Harney & Sons Fine Teas, 5723 Route 22, Millerton, NY 12546. This is an online work from home, the working hours are flexible and you can choose to work from anywhere of your choice. This is an immediate hire position. I am also excellent at proofreading and am attentive to details. I know how to plan and prioritize my own work effectively and so far, have always met all deadlines. The last time I was hired was by an xxx agency in xxx. I was interviewed over the phone and, based on my vast experience and curriculum, was hired to do work I had never done (xxx). I speak xxx fluently and xxx a bit. I would rate my writing skills as 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. Have you opened the package to confirm it's content? We don't have a vendor close to your location right now, but upon receiving the funds i will refer you to the certified vendor which most new employees of the company has being purchasing equipment's from for years.
You will make payments to the vendor, keep the receipt till your materials get to you because you will use the receipt as proof of payment. Okay?

I contacted the alleged hiring manager stating that I had consulted with some of my colleagues and continued investigating on the web and found this was a scam and that I was going to report them and the man said he would send me the police to my house and file a lawsuit because their records show that I had withdrawn the funds. I told them I still have the check and I have not deposited it so there is no way I could have withdrawn the funds.
