The web-site promises a fully electric lighter. They say specifically it does not use Butane. They have a YouTube Advertisement that says the same as their web-site. When the lighter comes in, there's a butane port instead of a USB port. They're lying and tricking people out of $45. PayPal got my money back, but I had to pay for shipping to return it so I could get my money. Shipping is on the order of 25% of the lighter. So I'm out around $10 in the end, but I'm sure there are many many people who won't go through the hassle of returning it and are getting scammed out of the $45.

The website indicates the product is an electronic lighter requiring no gas, but the initial website (https://get-brightfire.com/) leads to a checkout page that is on a different domain (https://shopbrightfire.com/); if you look on the help page, the customer service email is from another domain: [email protected]. If you go to https://toptorches.com/ you'll see an identical looking lighter for sale, except that it is gas-powered versus being fully electric. After placing the order, the emails come from the toptorches.com domain. What was shipped to me was a gas-powered lighter, not an electric lighter, so I returned it and while I did receive a refund, it was for $35.99 as the company kept the original shipping cost of $8.99 (which it certainly not what it cost them to ship out the cheaply made gas-powered lighter). This was a full on bait-and-switch. They are deceptively transferring an order for an electric lighter to their own sister site that markets a gas-powered lighter and then worst case scenario just pocketing the cost of shipping. If the consumer doesn't go thru with the return process, then they've probably profited $40 of the $45 paid to them. They've put in place numerous elements to provide themselves with plausible deniability, but it appears to me to be an intentional bait-and-switch. I first became aware of the product from a youtube commercial and it should have raised red flags for me immediately when I couldn't find the product being sold at any retailer - it was only going to be available from the one specific website, where they give a hard sell on selling 2 or 3 and will give you a discount if you'll immediately order. I at least had the the self-control to limit the purchase to 1 item just to see if it was for real, and I soon found it was definitely too good to be true.
