On December 9 I bought a Vanilla gift card from Walgreen’s for $506.95, the card was behind the counter. The clerk handed me the receipt that confirmed the card was activated. Two days later I went to use the card and it wouldn't work. I went to the website, balance.vanillagift.com, to get a balance. I kept getting a 'system error". I called the 833 number on the back of the card, and after many, many attempts got through to a customer service rep. When he checked the card, he informed me there was a zero balance! I explained the situation and he opened a case for me. He informed me that someone would be contacting me. After 3 days, I still hadn't heard from anyone; I went to balance.vanillagift.com to track, and the instructions informed that I would be getting an email with the next steps. That never happened. A couple days later I again called customer service, the rep was NOT forthcoming with answers. I asked him multiple times where I was supposed to upload the documents. He (finally) told me to email [email protected] with a copy of the Vanilla card, copy of my driver's license (front & back), copy of the receipt, and a copy of a utility bill. I do not have the original receipt, so I got a copy of the transaction from Walgreens. I uploaded the Vanilla card (front & back) and a copy of the transaction. The fact that they wanted my driver's license and utility did not sit well with me.
