Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I am sending this for a likely common scam around here. I'm just making a report on this attempted scam on me . . . what I believe is a scam!
They sent a fake check with Educational Employees Credit Union as a source from P.O. Box 5242 Fresno, CA 93755 with check no: 3016134 for the amount of $2,950.52. Along with instructions to purchase a Nike Gift card from any of the stores that they list in order to evaluate if the cashier was friendly or not, or whatever. Instructions are to text 281-382-238 to process my bonus when I complete my assignment. They give [email protected] also to give completed report.
My instructions and check were sent from 269 Etowah Industrial CT, Canton GA 30114-7802
I am just assuming this is the same scam that was around 20 years ago. This person first texts me and questions if I got their package. Next tells me that I need to deposit the check in my account. I just texted them back saying that I am opening an account with Educational Employment Credit Union and deposit this check with them. I have not received any text message back from them?!
