I am expecting a package from Amsterdam and received an email saying it was intercepted by Dubai customs and I must pay 8500 to get it or they will destroy and inspect it. The email asked me to verify my identity and address with a passport. I did not provide that but verified the address as correct. Two more emails followed with urgency to pay or they would destroy my items.

"Hello ma'am, it's been so many hours, yet we haven't heard from you, if you think this is a joke, then the authorities will break in and inspect the package and if any illicit items is found, a full scale investigation will be carried out accordingly.

Now you have to understand what this is all about, if you think we are playing games here. Because it's been 2 days now and nothing is done, do you know the delay this box is causing us?
You just have to act fast before the authorities changes their mind on this... We as a courier company is advising you."
Thanks.

Sincerely,
George Watford

I was contacted by text message a few weeks ago regarding a job opportunity. The texter said they were going to send me a check for $4,650 and that I should cash it and then get back to them. I texted back telling them I was not interested and to not send the check but they sent it anyway. The business name on the check is not Global Express Logistics who I identified above.. By the way I looked up the return address on the envelope for Global, the name of the street is not Bellow but Bellows so they spelled that incorrectly. However the issuer of the check is Vallen Distribution Inc. I do not have an address for that business.

Included in the envelope with the check was a strip of paper, not anything on a letterhead, that said, "we are verifying the authentication of the check you just received. To confirm the package has been received by the right recipient please text 775-235-8495."

I probably should not have contacted them at all but I did text to say that I had received the check but I was going to rip it up or mail it back to them whatever they directed me to do because I was not interested in this job opportunity which I felt was a scam. So far I have not heard from them about that. I can scan both the front and back of the cashier's check that they mailed me as well as the strip of paper with the note on it and a copy of the front of the mailing envelope which has a USPS tracking number on it. I did follow the tracking number, It is legitimate, to Houston Texas where this check was mailed from.

I have to say I feel like a real [censored] because my daughter said I should never have responded to them whatsoever. Not even to the initial text message. I have been getting a lot of scam employment opportunities and this is just the latest. This is the first to follow through with the actual check.

I was searching craigslist for a cheap puppy. I found the scammers ad and that said he was in my area with the dog. A few days later he's in another state with the puppy. A completely missed red flag. I ended up using zelle to pay the scammer $350 for a puppy that more than likely doesn't even exist. An addition to the scam is the "tracking link", which leads to Global Express Logistics. At the bottom in flashing letters, "Urgent Refundable Electronic Crate Needed". This was the one red flag that I caught. It stated that the crate would be $750 and refundable. I immediately looked all of this up and yeah. It's a scam. I have more screenshots if needed.

I tried to buy a Boston Terrier from this person charmingbostonterriers.com (not a good site) and email [email protected] which comes in as boston terrier pups from Justine Mapenzi [email protected] (not a good email) . They only except Zelle, Walmart to Walmart or Western Union. See the coincidence....cash only. after you pay for the dog Global Express Logistics sends you an email requiring 1500 dollars for a special crate the is temperature controlled for the dog. After that they want 1800 dollars for insurance. I had someone not with my last name sent an email asking about the same dog and they said it was available.

This scammer sells various products and takes payment via western union.

When you receive the shipping tracker from https://global-expresslogistics.com/ all seems well but then they contact you to pay other “refundable” fees which are sent overseas to Cameroon.

This suspect was arrested and ordered to pay back the money sent to him in order to avoid trial but the money sent overseas was out of jurisdiction.

The Clayton County Georgia Court case number is Case Number: 2019CR07982

The case cane be found here: https://www.claytoncountyga.gov/government/courts/court-case-inquiry

This fake shipping website was taken down in 2019 but is now back up and running.

I have reported it to the FBI and the FTC as well.
