I was asked to download Wire Messenger, complete an interview on Wire Messenger and then complete pre-employment steps before starting work.
I was asked to fill out a W4, I9 and sign an offer letter, provided identification. Then I was told I was to get a check today to buy equipment from a vendor. Since covid, all of my other interviews have been similar except for the check for equipment. Most equipment has just been sent to me but I felt this was only different because it is allegedly out of Arizona. As soon as I got the check, I was told to deposit and then Apple Pay the vendor. Both Sunocast and Apple Pay stopped the transactions for fraud. Since I thought it was legitimate, I said it was fine on my suncoast alert. Except then I was told the vendor has to buy the Apple computer with Apple Gift Cards since the other forms of payment were not successful. The vendor has to buy the computer since they have to upload the computer with all the tools I need to work. I was directed to take the funds to a physical location and then get Apple Gift cards. Since Apple Pay and also Zelle ( they wanted me to try that as well) did not work. I bought $1,000 worth of Apple Cards but on my debit. At this time, I was told to transfer all of the money I couldn't use on Apple Pay back to my account and do the same tomorrow. It has not felt right so I decided to just contact Suncoast, Zelle and Apple and make all parties aware that I believe I was scammed.
Global Financial and Leasing Services is on LinkedIn, Better Business Bureau, Arizona's Department of Commerce and many other sites so I truly felt in the beginning it was legit but just a small company. I even called the numbers on the website and spoke with someone but it is still odd to me that the background isn't done but I am being hassled to hurry and get these cards to this vendor. I asked about who the vendor was and I still have not received a reply.
