We were looking for a puppy for our family, and we found a website that purported to be a family breeder who "wasn't in it for the money". They were willing to ship the puppies from "Pittsburgh" (doubtful) to Quebec, Canada, for a low fee. There was a large litter of puppies that were all available, each had an individual picture and their name. They were 50% off. My wife was very excited, and got in contact through their contact page, and they emailed us some very standard template-like forms indicating their policies on adoption, and what they were looking for in a buyer. They were all about how fast they could get the puppies to us, within days. When I got involved, I noticed a few things that didn't make sense. They had large 50% OFF clip art on their site, along with clip art about "Quality" and some such. Furthermore, their 'story' (About Us) had inconsistencies in it. At the beginning he was a man, at the end he was a woman. When I asked for a few pictures of the dog, they sent us one very polished video. Although I couldn't find any of the pictures he had up on the internet, everything was heavily edited, and looked so clear and amazing. There were no pictures of the pups as babies. Only the 10 weeks old they were now. He never did a very intense interview about us to adopt the puppy. It was very cursory, making us feel "lucky" to have been chosen. He also never used his name. He went on and on about how safe the shipping of the dog was, in length, even though we weren't very concerned about it at all. He said we would be paying by Zelle. And he had buyers in Canada. But, Zelle doesn't exist here. When I asked for the contract for the terms of purchase (he also stated that he would take the dog back no matter how old it was. That no matter what the situation, if we could no longer take care of the dog, he would take it back), and I also asked for a copy of the puppy's AKC registration papers, he ghosted us. I emailed him a few more times to see if he would respond, but nothing.
We then started doing serious research into this scam. It's been reported on numerous websites, and discovered when taking a closer look at his website that his testimonials were thanking Sunshine Cavalier King Charles Breeders. And we then found more reports. We then discovered he uses "home" in his website addresses, as in bernesemountaindogs-home.com, frenchies-home.com, valleycogies-home.com, retriever-home.com. This is obviously well orchestrated, and uses one of perhaps 4 breeds to lure people in. Puppyscam.com and petscam.com have reports on them.
