Caller ID-ed himself as David Rios, Customs Officer at Las Vegas, NV Airport. (702-487-7182) Gave me information about a sweepstakes prize winning package that needed to be registered for mail delivery in the amount of $985,000...he also said the IRS had been paid $410,000 in taxes on this winning. He gave me a claim no. [102087] and asked me to call 1-800-238-9171 and ask from attorney, James Keenan. I called this no. and it was a message machine with no info. Then immediately [within 10 sec.] a man ID-ing himself as Mr. James Keenan asked me a few questions and I gave him only the claim no. and he said in order to re-register the mail package a fee of $2000 could be paid to the firm he represents...that was as far as the call went. I told him that this was likely a phone scam and I was reporting this fraud to the FTC.
