Total money lost $300
Type of a scam Tech Support
He told me I needed to log into my computer to figure out what I couldn't open a particular email. He said he found the problem, and that it would take 2-3 hours to fix and that it would cost $300, but that I would get $295 back. he told me to buy a Google Play Card to rent the software online that will clear up my problem, then he would give me all new password. I drove to the Family Dollar Store and bought a Google Play card. When I got back. He told me to scratch off the back and read him the security number. He frightened me by saying that I could take it somewhere else and everything would be wiped out and I would lose everything for $500 or he could fix it for $5. Then he said I need a picture of the card, so I took a picture of it. Then he told me to plug my phone into the USB. I could see him go through all of my pictures till he got to the card, Then I saw him zoom in on it. Then he said, I need you to take a picture of the receipt, top and bottom. He said it would take 2 hours, and he would call me back. He said when we call back you'll be talking to a level 9 Google guy. The level 9 guy took me through the screens. He said I would have to purchase a $500 box. I said I'm done, I want you off my computer and cell phone, I shut the computer off and took the battery out o if it. The scam numbers are 844-782-8099, 347-571-9260 and 347-809-3315. I think the AT & T rep gets a kickback from the tech support scammer.
