I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from google. he proceeded to confirm my email and phone number then i had began explaining how my business account was disabled and that i wasnt sure why and he began to tell me that this is why he was calling is because of that and so he begins to tell me that my info is not up to date and thats why it was disabled and that he needed some information from me. he used a verification method that my bank uses the one where they send you a verification code to your phone and you repeat it back but once i got the code not once did he ask me to repeat it back to him which was odd but who am i to tell him how to do his job. so then he needs my card information after confirming some other random things about my business like services provided and some other random things which was odd because none of that changed and should have still been the same but then again im thinking maybe its protocol. so after our conversation he explains that "google" charges a yearly fee of $200 to keep your business active and that i will see the charge. i proceeded to then ask if he'd be giving me a receipt for this "transaction" and he tells me in a few i will. i then randomly get a text from a different number with a underlined square verification code saying use it to verify my identity which i haven't used square in a while and know my password so that was a red flag. then i get an emailed receipt from "[email protected]" through a square space website saying your order will be ready for pickup tomorrow at 9am. well now i know something is off because i didn't order anything. the transaction has a quantity of 1 and is titled "social media 200" showing that he billed me $200. when i search his website it comes up but when you click on it it doesn't exist and then the square space site has no information about any of the service charges he has on there just the dollar amount and what he is claiming its for. i have checked with google and they do not charge or ask for payment for anything over the phone and so i know that this is a scam. ive searched the business and it shows NAME as the incorporator. when i call the phone numbers listed for the business they are out of service.
