I was contacted via text by someone who called themself Tod. I had a private seller car sale posted on autotrader.com and Tod insisted that I purchase a vehicle history report from https://vinautorecord.com/. The site claims to be approved by NMVTIS, but it is not a site listed by NMVTIS as an approved provider. I offered to send a CarFax instead and Tod was upset and continued to insist that I use the service before he would make the purchase.
