Type of a scam Government Grant
So #1 question - I will be asked what program I'm interested in. Remember I don't HAVE to go, I just need to SAY a program to make it LOOK like I want to go.
She said I need to tell them a Bachelors in Business or Health Care so I can receive the largest amount of money. Sure, no problem. At least 4 years to complete, I'd still be under 60 so of course, they'd go for that. Right? lol
#2 question- I will be asked if I want online or on campus. I'm to answer either or both.
#3 question-I will be asked how soon I want to start. I'm to say "Not right now, maybe in 2 to 3 months.
#4 question- I will be asked when I graduated and if it was a GED or High school diploma. I'm to say I graduated in 2001. . Which would have made me a 3o-something-year-old high school student.
#5 question- I will be asked if anyone coached me or promised anything and of course my answer will be......... and she went silent. Waiting for me to finish the sentence with a NO
She then connects me to another agent to determine my eligibility, but who sounded amazingly like the same exact lady, and even more amazing is there was absolutely no transfer time at all. Just instant transfer/connect. As a call agent, I know for a fact it takes longer than this did to just click the transfer button let alone actually be transferred and it turns out my 2001 "graduation" year made me not eligible for the largest amount. Go figure. So that lady transferred me back to the other agent I'd spoke with first, who again sounds exactly the same and who IMMEDIATELY, without even asking what was said or decided with the "other" agent, told me to say the year was 1983 and I was instantly transferred to a new lady. I was yet again asked the questions I was coached to say, as well as a couple seemingly normal ones and I WAS APPROVED> I'll be receiving my grant money at my address that they listed off accurately and was told I will receive verification in my email that was also given accurately. They just needed me to say YES their info is correct and the call ended with her congratulating me & that I would be receiving my Government Grant check here at my physical mailing address. I thought when we hung up that the scam was over but 10 minutes later i got another call from a " University" that they said was here in my town that i was supposed to "act like " i was interested in going to . The lady set up a time that evening at 6:15 to meet but the meeting didnt happen because this is a college town but there is only university here and it is WVU not Rothe Educational University for Business and Health Care. I was confused because they did not ask me to send any money for the "processing fee" to send me the Grant nor did they ask for my SS# but i still knew it was a scam somehow because the government will not give someone a grant that already owes them in back student loans and whose taxes they take as well as part of
my wages and the wouldnt have an agent "coach you" telling you exactly what to say. I researched after the call and discovered that what they were after was my voice and my words because they basically become me then. The bad thing about this scam is that I would think it would be almost impossible to fight because it is your words and your voice that purchases in your name or that is used to obtain your funds. It would be hard to prove that it is a recording and not really you, unless you immediately alert your financial facility , charge cards, phone service etc to let them know you were just scammed and want that noted. Also having it on record by reporting it to the ScamPulse.com as i am now so that IF they are able to gain anything using my name , my voice and words they coached me to say then it is on record as hopefully a sort of proof and the hope that others don't do what I done . The Government isn't going to call or choose anyone to be gave a grant. In order to receive a grant you HAVE to apply for it . I knew that but I wanted to see how far these people would go so I stayed on the line to " bust their bubble" once they mentioned needing money. I didn't give them any personal information which is what they are usually after besides your money. My personal information was gave to me first and dummy me " went along with it " when she asked me to repeat it to her so she could read the information as I was saying it to make sure there was nothing in it that would hinder the grant from reaching me . I was still waiting on them to mention the money they would need and she'd already gave my information to me so I didn't even for a second think to not repeat it as she already had it . Now she can basically become me and that is upsetting. These scammers need stopped
