They called and an automated voice began telling me that my SIN was being used to commit crimes and that it was being suspended and a warrant for myself would be sent to the local police to arrest me. It then said that to "prevent this action from being taken" I had to press 1 to speak to an agent. I hung up after the message, having almost fallen victim to a more elaborate but very similar scam call where the scammer wasn't automated, claimed to be with the CRA and even provided and agent badge number and "transfered" my call to the "RCMP" where again another person claiming to be an officer, again even provided a badge number. He told me that a car had been rented using my identity and that the vehicle had been used in the commission of another crime. He then tried to convince me into removing any money I had in my savings because it my accounts were going to be frozen if not already frozen as a result of the warrant. He wanted me to buy gift cards with my all my money that way it wouldn't be taken as part of the investigation which I found suspicious as to why he was concerned about my money at all and I immediately realized it was a scam once he started threatening to arrest me if I didn't send him the gift cards after purchasing them for him "to hold onto" until the investigation is cleared up. When I said I wasn't comfortable sending him the money and that I didn't understand why I needed to do this that he started saying "listen its already looking like ur guilty because ur trying to move ur money around into gift cards, if u don't send it to me, I won't be able to help you clear up ur name in all of this and ull have to sit in jail." At this point I realized it was a scam and told him I no longer felt comfortable talking to him and that he could speak to my lawyer from that point on. He got angry, cursed at me, called me an [censored] and threatened to send the rcmp after me right away and even started playing some sirens in the background while saying "have fun in jail" over and over again, so I laughed and just hung up

Call from “Government Official” indicating there was an issue with Social Insurance number.

I was called by a local number. The man on the phone stated he worked for the government of Canada. I was told my social insurance number was stolen and 25 bank account were opened under my name in Montreal and that I was involved in a fraud case with the government of Canada and I may need to appear in court. I did not give any information. I was then asked for the phone number of my local police station. I then asked if you work for the government should you not have access to this information. I then said let me put you on hold and the man on the phone tried to keep me from placing the hold. I then hung up and called my local police station. I then received a second call form a different number from the same people. I then informed the man on the phone I have contacted police.
