Total money lost $250
Type of a scam Online Purchase
The total cost for the cat was $500.00 and they asked for a $250 downpayment. We sent the money and they sent three photos and one video of the cat. We then asked to talk to them over the phone. We spoke multiple times to clarify the process. We agreed to pick up the cat the following week at their house in New Jersey. They then asked that we call them the day before to land specifics (location, timing, etc).
The day before we were meant to pick up the cat we texted them and asked for the address and timing. At that point, they said they were actually going to be in our area and could drop the cat off at our house only after we had paid them the final $250.00. We refused and said we would bring the money with us. They then asked more forcefully three times and we refused. Obviously, at this point we knew it was a scam and never received the cat.
