In October 2023, I applied for a remote data entry clerk job. It was a company named Grand Medical Group AG (https://grandmedicalgroup.ch/). The hiring manager ([email protected]) reached out to me, and we went through the hiring process rather quickly (offer letter, compensation, benefits, etc.). He then told me that I would have to send money for the materials and then I would get reimbursed, I told him that's not how it works; companies send the employee the material. However, I was desperate for a job and went only with it. He added that I would get reimbursed and this is a test of trust since I would be dealing with sensitive info. I agreed, and he said I should get a check for $4,990. The next day I got a check, and he told me to deposit it and while it was pending, I sent money to third-party vendors. This happened a few times, and after a few transactions, the check would be canceled, and I would tell him. He would check with the accounting dept and say that they thought I was playing smart with funds. Well, he re-issued another check, he told me the vendor money for the materials, and I withdrew $5000 as he told me and buy cryptocurrency for the vendor (Kathy Suthar). The next day I logged in to Microsoft Team for an update on the equipment, and he told me the company wanted to buy a diamond pen for me that cost $25,000, but for me to put in $9,000 and the company would pay the rest. He wanted another transaction of $9,000, which I denied and made a police report because ironically, I got contacted by a police station in Lyndhurst NJ. I told the police what was happening and was told to make a police report, and I did. The next day, the hiring manager called, and I told him I had made a police report, and he just said, I will get in contact with our accounting dept and never called me again nor did I receive any material for the job.
