I have been getting calls for months from a group saying they are from the federal government grants department. They state that I qualify for a grant because I was randomly selected after participating in a consumer report in December of last year. Also because I have no criminal record or bankruptcy. If you listen to the caller they will eventually give you a grant id# and a phone number to call back. It's supposedly the accounting manager. The person you call will instruct you to go to money gram and fill out the paperwork. They will ask you to send $299 via money gram as a one time registration fee. This is as far as I've gotten by speaking to these people as I knew the first time they called that they were not who they say they are. I have not given them any money. The larger issue for me is that now I'm being harassed by them. They call me every day during the week and have now begun threatening to come to my home and cause physical harm. They repay my address to me and tell me they are going to come hurt me. While I feel these are empty threats I'm inclined to become angry that no-one is stopping these [censored] from robbing and harassing people. Blocking the phone numbers doesn't work as they are using generated phone numbers that are invalid. Today's call was from 0000000000. Usually they use numbers from the Washington dc or Washington state area codes. They never call from the same number. This is a scam that has been previously reported starting back in 2012. These people have heavy (forgive me) asian sounding accents. This was only annoying harassment until they started threatening physical violence and threatening to come to my home.
