I gullibly clicked the link, which is no longer active, which took me to a site that continued with the ruse that I had won some wireless earbuds, and that all I had to do was pay 9.99 for shipping and handling. I thought “Great! I’ll gladly pay $10 for some generic AirPods.
I got the earbuds a couple weeks later, I figured all was done. A few days later I see a charge on my credit card for $84.96 from GrowthPowerGains.com. I called the number listed on my CC bill and surprisingly was connected to a real person after 10 minutes of holding. They asked first for my zip code, which I found odd. Then my name, then my email address. I proceeded to ask why I was charged, apparently the earbuds were only free for a 14 day trial, after which I was obligated to pay the full amount.
Nowhere was this explained when I placed the “order” for which I paid shipping fees up front.
The csr then tells me that she could not refund the full charge but could give me a $20 credit and a cancellation number to avoid further charges. Further charges?!?! I was furious. I asked three times why could I possibly be charged for if I hadn’t cancelled, to which she was evidently stunned and unprepared for, she eventually said after me pressing her that I would have received another set eventually and been charged for them as well. I could stay on the phone any longer I was so mad.
