Because we were led to believe we would have a home ready to move into before the end of the summer we were left homeless and forced to figure out accommodations with family, which caused an inordinate amount of stress and suffering on my family (including one of my parents whom is immunocompromised). After Thanksgiving we could no longer wait and fortunately for us we managed to find and get an apartment elsewhere (and wouldn't you believe it took less than a month to move in!). At this point we just wanted to get our security deposit and first month's rent refunded back to us, which the manager had promised us we could receive in full within 3-5 business days. When we went to sign for the refund in December the wait time suddenly jumped up to as long as 21 business days. True to form by mid-January we still knew nothing as to the whereabouts of our money. After yet another batch of excuses from the manager (this time her Christmas tree had caught fire or some bs like that...forgive my callousness, by this point I figured everything she says is a bold faced lie).
In the end I had to contact the owner of the property himself, ********, in order to even get some sort of response, at which point he informed us our application had in fact been denied way back in August. All this despite the fact that the manager had told us we had been approved and just had to wait for a unit to become available. In other words, this bitch (pardon the French) negligently and/or maliciously lost our application and for all intents and purposes pocketed the money for herself. They played us like a fiddle for months during the middle of the worst pandemic in a century, leading us along with no intention of ever helping us get a home. Anyway this last weekend I spoke with the owner and we agreed to meet him at the ***** Ranch office in order to pick up our refund. I texted him 20 minutes before arriving to let him know we were en route. Texted him again upon arriving as well, no response. Waited a few minutes and called...still nothing.
The security guard had us wait outside the office for nearly 30 minutes, during which time he did the bare minimum to feign the appearance he was taking care of us (worth noting when I had gone the first time in December for our refund I had no doubt in my mind the manager was hiding in her office while she had the rent-a-cop deal with the paper work). He claimed to be unaware if there was even anyone inside, despite being the only security on site...for real how bad at your job do you have to be here? He would jiggle the door handle occasionally and otherwise dick around on his phone. I'm capable of being patient and understanding but needless to say, I was beyond done with these people and their constant lies. So I started knocking hard on the window, which rent-a-cop did not like at all. He began to blubber about how he'd get in trouble if I continued to do that (I thought you weren't sure if there was anyone inside? Shady as hell), and sure enough 5 seconds later the door swung open and we were finally allowed inside...not by Tom mind you, it was some other guy I'd never seen before.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we got our refund.
Now I have no scruples over shining the light on these, again, pardon the French, rat-faced ********. Never, I repeat, NEVER waste your time with ***** Ranch or Hardt Investments, you will regret every second of it. The whole lot of them are scam artists and without a doubt the most vile and unprofessional sad excuses for human beings I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
