I called to book a chimney inspection and get some ceramic logs. The person showed up and started to clean the chimney and did not give me a bid or estimate. Then while they were checking on the chimney he then said the logs, cleaning and repair work would cost $7500 - I said no way. Then he said he could do it for $5000 but also repair the roof and showed me photos of roof damage. He did not repair the roof, he only cleaned the chimney, provided the logs and put a bit of spackle the inside of the chimney.
I have several bids now that this work (and logs) should have cost no more than $1500 max. Then he said I needed to Zelle him $6050 because of taxes on $5000. I said there is no way that taxes are that much - but he was making me very uncomfortable in my house (I live alone) -- and I thought I would be able to get it back / and or call the company. I paid $5000 in Zelle and a check for $1050 which I did a stop payment on the check on immediately after he left, and a claim on the Zelle.
I texted him asking for a detailed invoice and he said he would get it to me when back at the office. I then got a generic invoice for work done and $6050. I called the company the next day and the man screamed at me and said they would send "goons" because I cancelled the check. I asked again for a detailed invoice. I asked for this multiple times and was only met with screaming and threats.
I now have plenty of evidence online that this is how he works - every single review (and I have screenshots of all of them) outline exactly the above. The worker shows up, starts the work, gives an outrageous price and then is met with intimidation and screaming. And all payments must be Zelle.
He operates multiple shell company websites with no address, or email - just phone numbers and they all go to the same place. I cannot find any record of the businesses being registered and many of them have the ScamPulse.com logo. He must be stopped - Please before he defrauds and intimidates more people in the LA area.
