Hayden Family Pets Reports & Reviews (6)

I was looking for Burmese kittens and they reached back out to me via text (505 444 7690) and email ([email protected]) - sent their website: https://dustonburmese.mystrikingly.com/#available-kittens

I then googled this company and saw these reviews. All the details lined up with what others have mentioned; the perpetually 11 month old kittens, etc.

When I texted back and asked them why they had so many scam accusations, they stopped responding.

I was trying to purchase a Siberian kitten from Hayden Family Pets for 770.00 plus 180.00 shipping cost he had me send the money transfer to his son Westin L***** *** ****** **. Virginia Beach VA.23451 I sent 1000.00 he wanted me to send a payment to Zelle ******. [email protected]

Then I was told I needed to get [email protected] and I had to pay an additional 1,455.00 for the delivery insurance for the kitten and a special crate and I would be refunded the 1,455.00 upon receiving the kitten. The person I was dealing with delivery his name I was told was Alex and the number I would call him at was out of Marrietta Georgia his # was1-617-931-9179

I also have one more address [email protected]

They never sent the kitten .

I went through a similar experience that happened a few days ago. I found a Siberian cat cattery online and I filled out a contact form. They promptly responded and sent me a link to their website:

https://dustonsiberians.mystrikingly.com/#available-kittens

I found a few kittens and asked questions about them and they immediately told me that only one of the kittens was available and it cost $770 plus $150 shipping costs. They asked me to Zelle the money to:

[email protected]

I sent the money and I did not hear back until the next day. They asked me for my address where I wanted to have the kitten shipped and that they would send me the shipping details. I got an email the next day with tracking and shipping info and got an urgent call from an agent of the shipping company that I needed to monitor my emails and phone calls. Soon after I get an email stating that I needed to pay $1,455 for pet delivery insurance that will be reimbursed at time of delivery. They told me to send the money using Zelle to:

[email protected]

I was taken aback because the cattery owner had not told me of the added expense and they quickly apologized and said they forgot to tell me. I immediately called back the insurance company and told them I wanted to see formal documentation or a policy for the insurance before I sent the money. They sounded upset with me and told me that the cat would stay with them until I made the payment. That night all I could think about was that poor kitten sitting in a crate all by herself in a cold warehouse and I immediately sent the money despite my misgivings. The next day I waited to hear back from them and they sent me an email with shipping information. A few hours later I received an email telling me that the crate the cattery provided was not compliant and that I needed to rent an air conditioned crate which would cost between $1,520 and $4,520 depending on class. Again it was the same adage that I would be reimbursed once the kitten was delivered. At this point I was speechless and shocked and called the shipping company asking what they were talking about and again they told me the kitten would be grounded until I rented the crate. I called the cattery and they sounded upset and said they would go to the shipping company to sort it out. Two hours later they sent me a text stating that they would not be able to ship the kitten until I rented the crate. I responded back to them and told them I wanted a full refund and also told did the shipping company. This all happened yesterday and I called and called sent text messages and emailed with no response. Later that evening I called my bank and filed a fraud claim. They told me it would take approximately 10 days to perform the investigation.
My takeaways from this experience is so your homework. I would never have thought in a million years that scammers would use a cattery to defraud people but now that I think about it, I realize what better way to scam someone than to play on their emotions. A lot of people that are looking for a pet companion are emotionally vested in the process and will most likely overlook red flags. The first red flag was the cost and availability of the kitten. Most Catteries have long waiting lists and cost in the thousands for one kitten. The other red flags were the lack of information about the kittens, lack of a sales agreement and the urgency to send money and using the kitten to pull my heartstrings. I think my desperation to own a kitten led me to overlook the red flags and I hope that my experience will help someone else. I have provided all the contact information of everyone I dealt with.

I had a similar experience about the same dates as this. I was looking for a Burmese kitten and their site popped up in our area when I searched. However after some emails back and forth I realized they were not where they said they were and I questioned how they could send a live animal across international borders so fast for so little (I had flown dogs in before from rescue organizations).
Also asked why they only emailed me back at 2 or 3 a.m. ?
When I asked for more photos or a video as I was not comfortable they were legitimate they got defensive saying they were "religious" and don't play with peoples emotions or take their hard earned money. Also the pics of the kittens were 11 weeks old, but a month later they were still 11 weeks old. I asked why they had no up to date photos and still said they were 11 weeks when they were now 14 weeks !
I called them out that they were a SCAM and then the website disappeared .
No reputable breeder will talk to someone like that and they will send you all the info you need.

I initially found the Hayden Family Pets through a website of Burmese cat breeders. I sent an email asking if they had any cats for sale. They responded with a link to their website ( https://haydenburmese.mystrikingly.com/#available-kittens ) and a note about how their cats were guaranteed healthy and so on. Several emails back an forth about which cat was or was not available, with photos and descriptions. I settled on one and was told to pay via ZELLE to email: [email protected] . I sent the money, which included $180 for shipping. I received an email that the cat was being prepped for shipping and I would receive an email from the courier. The courier - Lovely Pets Movers - emailed me with a tracking number. I then received an email saying that I needed to urgently pay $1495 for insurance (email below):

"The insurance fee to be paid per animal must be equivalent to the cost price of the animal in question and this was decided by the U.S Aviation Commission / U.S Financial Bureau. Looking at clause 5A above, it shows that the cost of insurance to be paid as required by the U.S Aviation Commission is $1495 for this kitten.

But this system brought many complaints from pet owners and beyond and so the two mother committees sat and decided to adopt the Full refund Insurance Scheme method of insurance payments. This system requires that the owner of the animals pay the total amount of the insurance fee and the total amount must be refunded in cash upon safe arrival of this kitten at his or her respective destination.

To this effect, you are required to pay a total sum of $1495. The money will be refunded at the time of delivery by the delivery agents who will bring your kitten to you. The refund will be made in cash at the time of delivery and it will have to be refunded in total as stated in clause 7A of the U.S Aviation Commission / Financial Bureau laws.

We also wish to inform you that your kitten will remain here until the refundable insurance fee is paid before the kitten can depart from our detention. There is no compromise on this issue. We request and advise you to treat this issue with a high degree of discretion and urgency.

Send the money zelle money transfer to our cashier zelle email address below..

Zelle email Address: [email protected]

Cashier Name: Francis Quatiquewa

Amount: $1495

Note that the $1495 will be refunded back to you upon delivery of your kitten.

We hope this issue will be resolved within the shortest possible time to avoid this kitten from missing the Flight programmed time.

I emailed the breeder asking if this was standard procedure and received the following statement back:

"Yes sorry i forgot to inform you about the insurance, it is a new policy because of covid to make sure that all pets are transported safely and healthy. They will refund you the insurance money back tomorrow upon delivery. They always refund all my customers money for insurance at the time of delivery."

It was at this point that I realized I was in a scam. The Lovely Pets Movers contacted me by phone asking for the money and saying that if I did not pay soon, then the cat would not be able to ship and would be held there until I paid. That sounded like ransom to me. So I started to google and found another person had report a similar story.

I had the same or similar experience with them, but found out they were a scam after emailing them a few times and realizing they were in New Mexico and not Vancouver , Canada where they were advertising to be a breeder ! I asked for more pics, and a video and asked how they could send a kitten so cheaply overnight to anywhere in the country or out of the country? I have adopted out of country before and its no where near as cheap as they advertised. Too many red flags.
