I had applied for a position with HCL Technologies. I went through the entire interview process. I was hired on the following day. I was asked for the typical questions given the W-4 form to fill out. The person I was chatting with via an IM app was going to deposit money into my account to purchase the software I would need for this position. The bank flagged the check as a fraudulent check. They then asked for the login for my credit card to put the funds onto that so I could obtain my equipment and such. I said no, I would not give that out. They went on to tell me how they have worked for the company for 8 years, and this is how they do business. They would not give me a phone number to talk to someone within the company. I am happy I signed up for an identity protection program since they have my D.L. number along with my S.S. number. I did check the company out through all the means I could, I believe the company is legit, but I believe the job posting was not. The person I was dealing with called themselves Michelle Taylor.

I received a text message regarding my resume on indeed. They offered $35 an hour based on my experience. I messaged back and everything seemed normal. Until I was informed that I would be contacted on a third party app called telegram. It was suspicious, but I assumed they didn't want to continue conversation through text incase individuals didn't have unlimited data plans. Our conversation seemed normal and they had provided me plenty of info regarding the job. I filled out a W4 and an employee acceptance letter. Again everything was normal. Mind you this position was a remote position. They informed me they would send me equipment, but some of the equipment would be bought out of pocket. I was told I would be reimbursed through the company which is understandable. The part that got really sketchy was when they asked for my banking info. It wasn't just routing and account number, it was username and password. I would never in a million years give anyone access to my user/password. I informed the person I wasn't comfortable providing that info. They then said I would have to open another account so the company can give me the money to purchase the other equipment. At this point I knew it was a scam so I stopped messaging them. Sadly they have my SSN... but I am writing this to help anyone else who would fall victim to their schemes. Please don't provide your user and passwords to anyone!

Seeking employment. Found this job offer through a Facebook jobs ad. They sent me a check to cover the cost of "equipment" from a company that was not owned by them. The check turned out to be fraudulent. Do not give them your ID pic or SSN.
