I purchased a fire stick and was installing it on my tv. I was asked to go to amazon website to input the code from the TV. I tried entering the code but kept getting a message saying my account had been locked due to security breach. It gave me an option to chat - I started a chat telling what had happened and then the person on the call said someone from Amazon would call me. I got a call from a woman calling herself Rebecca Smith claiming to be calling from Amazon HQ and she was a Sr. Manager. She proceeded to tell me that because my network was compromised Amazon will not allow another device to be installed. She convinced me to download an app that allowed her to access my computer. She then proceeded to a very impressive presentation showing that she could see my IP address and then gave me several options for a firewall security company that Amazon work with to get my firestick up and running. I asked several times if this was a legitimate company if she actually worked for amazon she consistently responded that she had worked for 15 years and was not trying to scam me. She said if she wanted to she has all information and could have done harm already. After spending an hour on the phone, listening to her being there for me that she wasn't scamming me and giving me her direct contact info which is the same as the general number I gave in and told her I agreed to the service. I then saw a scan on my computer which I'm sure was just another video they had ready to give the impression they were scanning my internet service for bugs. Once this was done another guy called me and had me go to the TV give him the code and he was able to unlock the fire stick. He then brought me back to the computer and showed me where to contact him. Of course nothing happens when you call except an answering service

I called Amazon and they said they had no affiliation with that company and did not have a Rebecca Smith working for them and would never have asked for access to the computer.

I received a follow-up call from Rebecca the next day and of course, I told her that she was a scammer and I had confirmed it with Amazon

I and had no intention of paying money. I did receive an invoice from PayMarquee.com with a link to pay which I will not be paying.
