I went to heath care.gov attempted to report my income for the affordable care act insurance 2025 and I think I got someone pretending to be with health care.gov

- Pleasant Ridge, MI, USA

I took a buyout at work. Employer is paying health insurance until December 31, 2023 and I will need to pay for my own coverage after that. I didn't want to wait until the last minute, so on Oct 23rd I looked at healthcare.gov and was called right away. I spoke to Joseph at (866) 949-3581. He quoted me a price just for myself, which was supposed to be a big savings. Joseph had to ask his manager if he could still give me the $0 annual deductable. He said I can cancel at any time. I would want to call him for changes (855) 432-1237. Joseph said I'd need to pay for it now, and said I'd need to use my debit card, but to be sure to log into the website and change my payment type. Joseph also said I'd need to call his "Teams" number (855) 432-1237 to be sure I got to the right group. I could ask for him personally with any changes. I gave him my card number. I thought I was safe, I was working with someone from healthcare.gov after all. Joseph then said, because I'm still covered I would need to call before Nov 22 and ask the customer Service rep to push my start date to Jan 1st. I got an email receipt from [email protected] for $538.25 I then called (855) 432-1237 on Nov 16th and asked for my start date be pushed to Jan 1st and the Customer Service rep said I'd receive a confirmation email in 48hrs. No email arrived. I was getting nervous as I replayed the scenario in my head. I called (855) 432-1237 and couldn't speak to Joseph. He was not available. I called (866) 949-3581 and left messages to cancel my insurance and refund my money. I'm still insured and don't need the insurance. I've called multiple times and emailed multiple times. The emails have different people copied on them.

This has been exhausting. It's now been over a month. I should have investigated before giving my account out.

Healthcare.gov got all my personal information my social security number date of birth everything and offered $1,471 for medicine and everyday expenses can't use the insurance it doesn't pay and they don't send you $1,471 it's just a fishing scam to get your information

- Austin, TX, USA

I received a Health Insurance Card from Oscar Health Insurance Company. The scammer has my date of birth and submitted a health insurance request in my behalf without my authorization (I dont qualify for Obama Care due to my employment status). He used an old, previous home address of mine and changed the last two digit of my telephone number when he created the record with an email address that does not belong to me. The representative at www.healthcare.gov gave me the agents name as Renny Paredes with an agent number 19843379, so evidently they are registered with Healthcare.gov. Mr or Ms Paredes is to receive payment for this enrollment. He falsified my income as $14,000, entered an email address that does not belong to me; however this coverage is free due to the reported income of $14K under Obama Care. However I have been informed it is liable under my income tax return. The account has been reported as fraudulent and will be closed by Healthcare.gov. Please stop him!

This happened to me too, same person, Renny Paredes as of Oct 2023 so he is still doing this. I received a new insurance card with the wrong PCP which alerted me to the fraud. I reported this immediately to the fraud department with Heathcare.gov and they closed the account and are investigating. I have since received a statement/invoice for $682 which was billed to Healthcare. Waiting to hear back from Heathcare.gov fraud department for resolution.

Same, here's the info I have on this person: Renny Anderson Paredes-Rangel. Business Address: 940 DOUGLAS AVE UND 164 ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL 32714 Phone number 786-626-5249. Agent: Renny Paredes npn: 19843379; Texas non-resident license number 2808191 and Florida license number W7017050. We called BCBSTX, IRS, Marketplace and reported to Texas Dept of Insurance Consumer Protection 800 252 3439. How do you remove his license! It's a joke. Make a report to Texas Dept of Insurance as well. Maybe if enough of us report it to them they will cancel their license. It's still active.

Sorry you went through this. I spoke with someone at Healthcare.gov earlier today about the same issue and reported it as fraud. I was told someone in their fraud department would get back to me within 45 days. The representative I spoke with provided the same agent name Renney Paredes. I wonder if they hacked into Texas Employment Commission system. I told them there’s got to be a way for them to flag this persons name and not approve or look at the applications a little bit closer. Was told the system approves the applications. Makes no sense to me. But I guess that’s happens when things are automated. May turn to my local news to see what can be done

Scammer called pretending to be **** ******** working for gohealth llc and got my social security number my address and my personal email

- Gurnee, IL, USA

I was looking for Healthcare options. My phone rang at 5am three mornings in a row. I finally decided to answer it and find out who it was. They identified themselves as Healthcare.gov. Since I was woken up out of a deep sleep and I had been looking for Healthcare options, I answered two general questions that pertained to insurance. They then asked me if they could transfer me and I say "YES". Right then, I totally woke up and realized what I had just done. I am now very concerned about what will happen with that recording. I know better yet I was caught off guard.
