I listed some mid century modern bedroom furniture on craigslist for $6000. I received an email from someone who said they wanted the set “had to have it”. They asked me to use their private email for correspondence instead of the craigslist contact email. Then they asked if they could have someone in the area come and package everything to ship it to them. I had listed the set with “no shipping” clause. I asked questions such as, are you in the area? Can you come and get it today or tomorrow? But never really answered my questions. They asked for a name and address to send a check for the full amount plus shipping expenses. I gave them the name and address, this was before I thought it might be a scam. I answered an email telling them that I decided not to sell the bedroom set to them and for them not to send a check. I received the check yesterday and will not be depositing it. I haven’t had any correspondence with them since I sent that email telling them not to send the check. They have our name, address and email but do not have our phone number or any banking info.
