So I found a post on Facebook for a really cute house for rent. Price was super good (should have known better), it did seem odd that the poster of the house was not the "owner". After contacting the poster she informed me to text the "owner" and that she posted it for him to help him out. Texted the number I was given for a gentleman to text me back. Asked all the appropriate questions and asked if me and my husband could go and check out the house, he agreed. We get to the house and no one is there, get a text saying that he had his "worker" leave the back door open for us and for us to go through the gate to the back yard and go in the house. Which we did, figured if he knew this kind of information it couldn't be a scam right? Wrong! After touring the house we feel in love with it and wanted to proceed. He them tells us he needs $75 per person for application fees and would require $1000 security deposit before he would send us the lease to sign. After letting him know we had some concerns about that and we had been scammed before we didn't feel comfortable proceeding that way. He agreed that if we sent $500 he would send the lease for us to sign then we would send the other $500. Well needless to say once the first $500 was sent he stopped responding to our texts and calls. He had us zelle the money to a phone number that went to a Theresa King, probably some poor unexpecting assistant to his scam, or his partner in crime.
