I was approached on Instagram to become an ambassador for the brand Here For You where they sell t-shirts, jewelry & other accesories that promote body positivity. I'd get a 40% + free shipping discount code for my purchases to share photos of the product in hopes to grow my audience. I made a purchase, never received my item and after emailing several times with no response realized I was scammed. They created a shipping label through USPS but that's it. I have noticed that their Instagram page which had a significant following, has also disappeared. Thankfully I'm only out $31.50 along with my precious time. Beware, there are many scams like this going on right now on Instagram!!!

In my case, an unfamiliar account tried to message me on Instagram, sending me a link to Here For You's page and encouraged me to directly message the company and become a brand "ambassador" (essentially a model). This account which contacted me had no posts, followers, and followed no one themselves. I was suspicious but decided to ask HFY how to become an ambassador, but it was clear they were not being transparent. They would not answer when I asked about their address. When pressed for questions, they tried to persuade me to accept a "custom discount code" for advertising their designs. They still gave me a discount code even while I refused and explained how to advertise for them once I received my items from their store. No talk of payment. It's my belief they prey on "influencers" to purchase their products, which are notably very expensive, thus they give them the discount code to sweeten the deal. The only thing they promise is that they will tag your Instagram account after you send them a picture of you wearing the items. This is an elaborate ploy to convince people to buy overpriced products.

I recieved a direct message saying they would like to do a collaboration with me because they liked my page. They said that they would offer me a discount code that I could use and share with friends and family. They said that all proceeds go to different charities which support mental health and body positivity, something I've struggled with for years. I fell for it and purchased a sweatshirt. I was sent tracking info and everything seemed fine at first except the tracking info didn't seem to work. I reached out several times on instagram thinking it was just a mistake, but never got a reply and still never received anything. Contacted my bank and let them know what was going on, and they kindly refunded my purchase. It makes me mad that they took advantage of me using a cause I am passionate about and like to support.
