I have contacted a garage door repair service, listed on the internet as "Garage Door Repair Huntington Station", www.garagedoorrepairhuntingtonstation.com. I assumed this business is located in Huntington, NY, and operates as a local service. The clerk made an appointment for a service man to help me with my remote controlled door. I was told the service call would be $29.50, a fee that would be credited towards any replacement cost for parts and for resulting labor. The service man was at my house, fixed the problem within 10 minutes: he did not have to replace or repair anything, just setting up the remote button properly. I was charged a total of $92.33 incl. taxes!

The invoice states "High Touch", located in Yonkers, NY, ca. 45 miles away from my house. When visiting www.ht-garagedoors.com, you will not find a physical address in or near Huntington listed, but rather generic areas of service.

The scam is that a phone exchange claims to be a service in Huntington on Long Island relaying the repair request to other services which might not even exist. Even though I feel having bee taken "for a ride", my garage door functions properly (for now..)
