student loan forgiveness. She asked how much I owed and I gave her the dollar amount of my student loan. She said she was going to switch me over to someone in the Higher Level Processing Department that could better assist me. Someone by the name of Jeffrey Palette came on the phone and asked questions such as (where I worked, my job title, my information to log into my FAFSA Account, Annual income and requested I send my pay check stubs and/ or a copy of my tax return to him. He said that I could take a picture of the information and send it to him. He said," My supervisor and I will look over the information and give you a quote". I had given him all the information except for the copies of my income before I became suspicious. I asked him a quote on what. He said," A quote on how much can be forgiven". I told him to provide a fax number to me and I would fax the documents to him on tomorrow. He told me to hold on so that he could get the fax number. The fax number provided to me is (714)422-0294. He also said," Let me provide you with my direct number in case you need to contact me (714)706-3661". Well, I was unable to contact Jeffrey Palette at the number given. However, the voice mail states Jeffrey Palette. I don't know if this is a scam or not. All of my personal information(Name, Address, Social Security Number etc.) is listed on FAFSA. Not sure if this is a scam or not. What do I need to do in case this is an Identity Theft?
