I was contacted by a person who claimed to be a real employee of "Underdog Fantasy" (a real company) who was reaching out about a job opportunity. They requested an initial screening, and to set up a Microsoft Teams text-based chat to conduct the interview. The second person (also a real employee at Underdog Fantasy) was supposedly interviewing me via Teams, but it appeared to be a chatbot asking questions. They requested 2 professional references from me and said they would review my answers. Then they contacted me the next day by phone, impersonating a 3rd real employee at Underdog Fantasy who offered me the job. They sent a job offer which requested my bank account information and informed me I would need to purchase an iPad pro for work, which would be reimbursed out of my first paycheck.
