I followed the directions from the “What to do if you have fallen victim” section of the articles and stopped communication with the scammers. I also immediately notified USAA on that very same day to dispute the charge and cancel my credit card to avoid additional scam charges. I did log back in to the site today because when I spoke to USAA for the third time about this today, I was told that the scam company “verified” that the items had been delivered. The Order Detail printout clearly says at the top “NOT SHIPPED.” Since I now know this is a scam, I am relieved that they did not actually send anything to my home.
I called back to USAA a few weeks later to follow up. My understanding was that after my second phone call to USAA, that the situation had been resolved, so I did not respond to their letter requesting more information. Yesterday, January 19, I received another letter dated January 11 still asking for more information. That is why I called USAA a third time this afternoon (1-20-24). The representative said that the merchant “declined to refund my money” and that they “confirmed that the items had been delivered.” As I told the USAA representative this afternoon, we did not receive anything from this company (shoes or otherwise). We also have a Ring camera, and I would be happy to provide footage of whatever day they said they delivered a package to our house. This is clearly all a complete scam. Their own “Order Detail” says that nothing has been shipped (even as of this afternoon), and the Shopping Scam Explained article clearly details all of the components of this scam.
