I received a home depot gift card for $100.00 dollars on or after 8/18/2024 and attempted to use it on 11/04/2024 at at home depot store. When I tried to use it, the balance was zero which did not make sense because I had just removed the gift card from the packaging and scratched the back to the card to reveal the card number and pin number. The home depot I was at said that the card was used on 08/27/2024 at homedepot.com. I told them that was impossible since I just scratched the back of the gift card so there was no way I could have used the card two months prior. I called customer service and they said it was used to buy a very specific air conditioning part around $300-$350. They wouldn't tell me who made the ordered or the address it was shipped to. I feel like if they did, they would know it was not my name nor was it the state that I live in. I went in to another store and tried to talk to a supervisor about the issue and before i ever got done explaining the issue to the crs, she told me that she knows exactly what happened and that they think scammers are using AI Software to spam card and pin numbers. They said i was out of luck getting the money back and that i should contact the bbb.
