They came into my home , told me if I paid the labour cost of 290+tax that they would service my fridge and it would be left in a working matter . Well it’s not working . I would not have paid 330 for my fridge to maybe work or not work at all . This company needs to be stopped

• Apr 13, 2024

On Easter Sunday my 4 year old fridge stopped cooling so i panicked and called this company. When I look at their webpage now, I realize that it is very deceptive. They don't post their address. The reviews that come up are very favourable but when you actually click on reviews you'll see the damage they've done. It is beyond my understanding that they are still in business. Even City TV did a report on them. I contacted them through their chat line and they got back to me immediately. I was told the service visit would cost $80 but that would be deducted if he actually did any service. When the service man came he worked for an hour and the bill said $290. for cost of labour. He charged labour of $290 for under 1 hour and the $80 was not deducted. I was told the $80 was for him to come to my door. He told me the compressor would cost $1518.78 before taxes but the final total with taxes was $2043.35. I told him I could buy a new fridge for that and he showed me my fridge online which cost over $4000.00. I thought well I've already paid him $290 for the service call and I believed that the compressor was expensive so I paid the full amount. I panicked. ** *** ****** ******* * **** ** * ***** *** * ** **** * ******* I called the next day to cancel the service and told them not to order the parts. They told me that they had already ordered the parts. I instructed them that I would pay for the service call but I wanted a refund for the balance. They told me the accounting department would call me back. They never called. I don't believe they even have an accounting department. When I called back they cut me off so i called from an unknown number and got through. It was then that I demanded they give me a detailed invoice or I would call the police. After some time another woman came on the line and told me I had been charged $110 warranty, $675 labour, $45 for shipping, $575 compressor and $290 for evaporator coils. The so called accounting department never called me so I called back on Apr. 11th and was told accounting had been very busy the week before.

They promised me that I would be called by the end of the week and I said, "so you'll call me back Friday?" which was April 12th. They said yes - no call. I believe all their numbers feed through one line and they use 2 different girls to answer. I doubt very much that they actually use an office space. After all this, I found my receipt online for my fridge and I actually had an extended warranty. My fridge is fixed and guess what. it didn't cost me a penny and definitely did not need a warranty or evaporator coils. I may never see a refund but I pray my experience will help others. Buyer beware!

My client gave me a name for an appliance repair company, i clicked on the company that wasnlisted firat noth paying close attention that it was not the correct name i had searched. After realizing it was a scam i input the business name that easnon my invoice into google and there i saw the company information being shown as permanently closed however its fully active. They have 1500 reviews all 1 star with people complaining of them being fraud. How google is accepting their business to be listed i have no idea. Thry took $362 of my monry and didnt solve any issue, that was apparently just service charge and they wanted another 1000 to "fix it"

Our dishwasher was leaking. We phoned the A Team Appliance Repair Service. A technician came, charged $832 for a diagnostic which took 10 minutes or less, and two new parts he said caused the leak. He ordered the parts (prepaid), came back in a week and installed them (10 minute install). When we ran the full cycle the dishwasher still leaked. We immediately called The Appliance Repair Team back. The technician came back wrote up a new bill for $300. We didn't pay. He left. I sent many emails to the company, they refused any kind of refund of responsibility to repair the dishwasher. I called a Whirlpool technician a couple days later who fixed what was a simple problem. No parts necessary and no connection whatsoever with any of the parts sold or suggested by the employee of the Appliance Repair Team (not a technician obviously). The Whirlpool technician agree that it was an obviously a scam.

A complete nightmare dealing with The A Team Appliance Repair (or another name they go by Appliance Repair Team). This company has a well-planned step by step way to get money from you without ever fixing the problem.

We discovered our Samsung refrigerator had died on the evening of Saturday January 6th. After throwing all the food out on Sunday morning we googled Samsung refrigerator repair and this company came up first. Claimed they worked 24/7 and had good reviews. We contacted them and the girl said she could have a tech there that afternoon. It was an $80 charge to come out and they would credit the $80 towards a repair or part if the appliance could be fixed. Tech showed up in the afternoon spent less than 5 mins behind refrigerator came out and said he could fix it for $395.00 today as it just requires a maintenance service call. We said great paid the $395 with cash. Moments later he changed his mind and said it was the mother board assembly and it would be an additional $1100 if we went with a Samsung board. Shocked, he convinced us that it was worth it because it would be covered under warranty and this should get our refrigerator another 10 years as this is the heart of the appliance. He also went on to tell us that in his opinion the new appliances are all made cheap so this is a better option. Desperate to have a fridge we said OK. This time we would like to pay by credit card. Tech informed us that it was a 2.66% service charge so e-transfer or cash would save us money. Quickly we e-transferred the money. Next, he informed us that it would be 4-6 business day for the part to come in. Wow. Again, he assured us if it comes earlier, they would be sure to call. When I questioned the cost, he assured us there was no further costs. Labor, parts, service everything was paid for and that he personally would be back to complete the job. The proof was in the invoice he was leaving.

No calls came so on the 7th business day (January 16th) we called back to check as to where our part was. We were informed it would be in that night or the following morning so they scheduled the tech to come back later the next day.

January 17th same tech showed up with a tech in training. I could see the box was already opened. I asked what proof do I have that this is a Samsung part and not a knock off? Original tech was quick to show me the box said South Korea so that was my proof. The trainee installed the new mother board. Plugged it in. The original tech opened the door to the refrigerator said it was all good and told trainee to unplug refrigerator. I clearly saw no change from how it was before. I was then told to let it sit for 6 hours unplugged and then plug it in. Original tech said problem was fixed. I asked to keep the old part as I knew something wasn’t right. The tech informed me he needed the part to return to the office as proof he did the job. Needless to say, nothing worked once we plugged it in.

January 18th, we called and were told someone in warranty would contact us in 24 hours. We asked why? As this had just been installed the day before. “Because it’s now under warranty was the response. “

January 19th, 24 hours later still no call back so we called back again. This time we were received with hostile attitude and told someone from warranty would call in the next 1-3 business days.

January 20th, knowing we were getting the run around we decided to do our own investigating and confirmed through another source that it was the compressor not mother board that was toast. It is an expensive part and best option would be to get a new fridge. At this point a friend recommended checking with the Better Business Bureau and so we did. Turns out this company regardless of which name or phone number they use have a real pattern for charging large amounts of money, misdiagnosing the problem, not fixing the actual problem and not returning calls when promised once they have your money. The complaints were alarming.

January 23rd, we decided at this point to waste their time and have them come back since we were under warranty after all. When we called, they claimed they had tried twice the day before to call us. No surprise, our phone records showed no calls from them.

January 26 the original tech came out again. We told him how it still wasn’t working he replied “these things happen. Most likely a loose wire”. We watched him carefully look at mother board, move a few wires and then proceeded to close it up and claim it was fixed. Again, we were asked to leave it unplugged for 2 hours this time. On his way out he told us he suspected the compressor would be going next and if we were interested that would be another $1430. Unbelievable because he never once looked or checked the compressor in any of his visits. We were shocked by how confident he was that he could continue to scam us. By this point we had already purchased a new fridge and were well aware of what a scam this company was running. Unfortunately, we were out $1494.99 to them plus the cost of a new fridge. We also contacted Samsung direct during all this and discovered they are NOT an authorized Samsung Dealer.

They claim they understand that time is of the essence when you require refrigerator repair. Really. This started January 7th and as of today which is 28 days later the refrigerator is still not working.

They send a repair man when we committed to pay $80 for a visit. This man asked we sign a contract and make payment of $367 in advance. We trusted that he knows what he's doing. He spent 10-15 minutes and left, instructing us to plug the fridge back on in 10-12 hrs. When we did that we found that the fridge was still broken.

They are stealing money from people by lying about repairing appliances. They charge you, do nothing and leave. I’m out over $300 and once reading other yelp reviews they do this all the time. They show 5 star reviews on google but it can’t be seen anywhere. All the real reviews speak to the horrible treatment and theft this company does!

Needed washing machine repaired, diagnosed with needing 3 parts total cost $900, deposit of $600, told 2-4 days, currently in day 58 & all customer service has been beyond aggressive and rude and dismissive and keep telling me the repair is a certain date and then the date comes and goes and they rebook for another date. Also looks like the initial technician punctured the one part of the machine on purpose, no other wear and tear close to it, looks like he sliced or punctured it himself

We are writing this review after exhausting our request for a refund of fraudulently collected money by "The A Team Appliance Repair" (also known as "Appliance Repair Team"). Based on our bad experience, we highly caution unsuspecting and trusting citizens to be careful when dealing with this company for your appliance repair needs.

Please review the details of our service call and make your own decision:

Our freezer broke down a few months ago, and we contacted "The A Team Appliance Repair". The technician simply looked at the freezer and collected $316.40 ($280 plus tax) in advance assuring us that he could fix the freezer on the same day. However, IMMEDIATELY AFTER COLLECTING THE MONEY, WITHOUT MAKING ANY DIAGNOSIS, he provided us with a list of purportedly necessary replacement parts required to fix the problem! The prospect of waiting an additional ten days and incurring more expenses for repairs that might surpass the cost of a new unit led us to promptly cancel the service contract, exercising our rights as outlined in the contract's Terms and Conditions, and requesting a refund for the money collected WITHOUT ANY ACTUAL REPAIR WORK PERFORMED. "The A Team Appliance Repair" has flatly refused to refund the fraudulently collected money. Please see attached supporting documents which sows that the technician has not worked on any components to justify the labor charges. THIS IS A SCAM TARGETING UNSUSPECTING AND TRUSTING CUSTOMERS. While the financial loss incurred in our case may be relatively small, the frustration and indignation of being deceived by unscrupulous individuals is immeasurable.

There are a few more issues that raise questions about their deceptive business practices.

• The technician charged us for a fictitious, non-existent "Defrost system," which is illegal.

• The labor and GST were charged on a debit receipt with a incorrect company business address. We do not know how long they have been charging with the wrong address on the debit note.

• When we insisted on a legal invoice for the collected “labor charge”, they sent us an invoice with a different company name. It is worth investigating by the competent authorities such as Ministry of Business and CRA.

In hindsight, our mistake was not reading the bad reviews of this company ******* ****** before contacting them for service. Just look at the reviews on various review sites on the Internet, and you will understand how this company operates. *** ********* ******* *** ********* ** ********* ******** ********* ********** ****** *********** ******* ***** ***** ****** ****** ******** ****** ********* **** ******* *** **** * **** ********* ******* ***** ** *** ******* ** ***** *** **** *** **** ******** ********  The broadcaster CTV also investigated them in 2021. *** *** ****** ** *** ********* ***** ********************************************************************************... **Unfortunately, nothing has changed so far in 2023.

It is disheartening to see a company like this persistently defrauding unsuspecting customers without consequence.

We will continue to pursue this matter at all levels and encourage all affected customers also to write to the Better Business Bureau and other consumer protection agencies to investigate the malpractices of this and other companies to protect citizens. It is worth it, even if the communication saves just one customer from falling into their trap.

Called "The A team Appliance Repair "company for a call service and was told it would cost $80 for the visit. When the repair man came, he looked at the microwave and said it would cost $240 for labour to disconnect it to see what the problem was. He was sure he could fix it on site but after 5 to 10 mins he said he needs to take it to their lab for repair and the part needed to repair the microwave will cost $427.70 plus tax. He took the microwave to their lab and said it would take 3 to 5 days for fixing. We paid in full before he took the microwave.

After a week I called for an update only to find out the microwave is not repairable. I asked for a refund and the was told the company will refund only $135.00. When I checked the reviews for this company, I discovered that we are not the only customer this happened to. Please advise if this is good business practice.

Thank You.

Called to fix my dryer. Was told I would pay $80 for them to come and discuss what the problem is and quote me the amount to fix and wave the $80 if we decide to get them to fix it. They came and gave me a quote of $280 to fix. They never discussed what the issue was. When they were done they told me I have to pay $440. They never discussed with me that I would have to pay for the parts. When I refused and said I would pay for the amount we agreed on or I would of just bought a new one. They took out the parts and left my dryer broken and still expected me to pay. They said I had to pay for labour even though they didn’t fix it. They tried to over charge me.

I called for washer repairs for my home. They booked me for same day service. I caled back immediately to cancel service as no one would be home and they said they would be charging me 80$

In review of their website they have 367 1 star reviews because they don't do the repairs and then you have to pay them. Despite making the appointment at 11 am and cancelling 6 minutes later they still sent someone to knock vigorously at my door and give me an 80$ service charge for a service that was never done. The man threatened to call collections.

I called them to repair our washing machine because it was making a very loud noise when used. They came in and did the initial exam and serviced the rotation system and motor, he found that the rotation system was faulty and we ordered the following parts: Agitator, Retainer, Gear Case and Drive Hub Gear. We agreed to pay for the parts and they assured us the parts would come in in the next 3-4 days and would be installed then, the only reason we went ahead with ordering the parts was because the timeline they gave us was the fastest option we had. A week went by and when I followed up with them they could not give me a clear update and just told me to wait, I did not take that as a reasonable answer and demanded they give an explanation, they then said that the parts they ordered were "faulty" and needed to order new parts again, I asked them "how would they know they were faulty if they had not had the chance to test them yet?" They replied saying that the wrong part was ordered, to which I said, that in that case they need to give us a refund so that we can get a new machine since the timeline they promised is not going to be met due to their mistake, the person I was speaking to then corrected herself and said that she did not mean to say that and that the part was faulty not ordered wrong. When I confronted them about the part, the person I was speaking to hanged up on me, I then called back and was hanged up on twice. I asked to speak to a manager and they said that the managers work from home therefor they do not take phone calls and can only be reached via chat. I spoke with a "manager" via chat and they reassured us that the new part would arrive within a week and we would have our machine up and running in a week.

A week went by and we did not receive a call so I called them and asked them for an ETA, they said that the part had arrived but all of their technicians were busy and would not be available until a month from then. I told them that it was unacceptable to not prioritize us, specially after the entire experience we have had, I asked them to schedule us that week, because we were already way past the timeline they had initially given us. They did schedule us within weeks, and came in to do the repairs with the new parts, while they were doing the repairs, they kept closing the door to our laundry room and I kept opening it, I asked them to stop closing it and they continued to close it, they had 5 people "fixing" our washing machine which I thought was odd. The main technician then talked to me and said that the part would not go in and they would need to take the entire washing machine to their facilities for them to be able to add the parts, I then went back to see our washing machine and they had broken parts of it and completely taken it out of the frame, at that point I chose to trust them again and said it was okay for them to take the machine. The technician then told me that he would not take it now and he would have someone come back that same day to take it, I agreed to this but told them it had to be before 5 pm. It was 4:30 pm and I called them, the person I spoke with seemed very confused and said that they would not be coming back today but within 2-3 days. 3 days went by and I followed up, then I was told that they were not coming back at all because their technicians did not know how to fix the machine and they would not be able to help us any further, at this point I was furious and asked them to give us a refund for deposit we had paid for the parts since they did not even give us the parts and they kept them. They said they would refund us the labor but not the parts since we agreed to ordering them, I argued with them for a while and they said that they were being nice by even offering to refund the labor which was not even 1/3 of what he had paid already. We asked them to come back and put together the washing machine they had dismantled and they refused, they said that there would be a charge for that, I told them that our machine was not in pieces when they came in and it should be put back together and no additional cost, they also broke pieces of it and it looked like it had parts missing, they still refused to put it back to the original state with no added charge. We took our loses and waited for the cheque that was promised with the refund, they said it would me mailed to us, we have yet to receive it after almost 2 months.

I went online and saw reviews that depict a very similar story as to what I am telling now, there has even been a CTV news report about this company. The fact that they are able to steal from people and have no punishment is disgusting.

A technician from the company replaced 2 parts in my washer, costing $655 in parts and labour. After two months, the parts malfunctioned and the company refused to rectify the situation. They stated their parts only carried a 30 day warranty. They expected me to pay again to service the washer. Horrible customer service and zero compassion.

$900 Dollar washing machine repair that wasn't done and now claim i need to send additional $1200 to finish the job.

I had call Appliance A team to fix my washing machine. They said it was $80 dollars to show up to my home. Then I show them my washing machine and they requested $327 to service. After 10 mins they requested $900 for an appliance flange. The part cost $200 on samsung website. They attempted to scam me $1200.

Called A-Team Appliance Repair early morning of MAR. 31/23 for service of oven. They never commenced any service at my residence as I cancelled right after I had set up a afternoon service call with their operator (within 45 minutes this appointment was cancelled). I was never at any time informed of any “cancellation charges” when I called for service. I did not sign any contract for service with this company. If a business has a cancellation policy involving fees, it is their responsibility to bring the policy to the attention of the consumer at the time of booking their service and especially at the time of cancellation in writing or electronically. I have received a phone voice mail stating they will send the $90.48 cancellation fee to a collection agency. I have not received any type of invoice via email or regular mail concerning any monies from A Team Appliance Repair that they claim I owe them. But instead, they stated the cancellation fee amount on the Voice mail and will now send a claim straight to a collection agency. This is wrong, and as a consumer, I believe that I have been treated unfairly.
