BEWARE OF PREDATORY SALES TACTICS
They said they would cancel but they could not refund because he called them willingly and signed up for the policy. They had a recording and he does state that he want his daughter to talk to them. It also shows that he is hard of hearing as he is constantly asking them to repeat themselves. It is completely obvious that he was being scammed. they said they sent a policy and contract in the mail. Not true, my brother and I get his mail and nothing was sent. They also said they emailed him and gave me his email. He does not have an active email account nor would he even be able to tell them what his email was if he had one. I asked that the policy be emailed to me and it wasn't sent.
The first person I spoke to was helpful and said he would email me the policy with the contract. I said please do, but I want to cancel and want him refunded his $395.00. Then I was switched to a supervisor who explained that they would not reimburse, but they would let me out of his contract which they usually don't do. My guess is they are making bank on peoples initial payment.
I have read multiple reviews from people that have had the same experience with their elderly family members. I can't find one positive review or anyone who has had a positive experience.
I filed a complaint with the Tennessee elder abuse hotline for financial exploitation. Home Protect USA uses predatory sales tactics and the notices they send obviously raise alarm with the elderly.
Type of a scam Phishing
She received a letter to inform her that the property's home warranty at her address is expiring. It goes on to say in bold caps the she has not contacted them and she needs to get her home warranty up to date. I called the company to let them know this practice is unacceptable and appears to be a scam and to take my mom off their list. After 15 minutes of being put on hold I actually talked to a real person, but she hung up on me. The envelope that it arrived in, had no postage stamp or any indication it came through the mail. This type of scam targeted towards senior citizens needs to stop. My mom does not have an email nor does she use a computer, so instead they send snail mail instead. There is no return or printed address anywhere on the document nor envelope.
